Remember years ago when we couldnt even begin to imagine adding salary to our payroll? Praise be to Mario and Ron
- Deadstar

ownership willing to add payroll and big name players picking Pittsburgh over Boston.

Penguins have come a long way in the past decade.

Faceoffs mean a lot, But Sully sure was good at moving that puck from blue line to blue line. I agree with you though.

Pretty glad we didn't get Parise at this point.
Call me crazy but my favorite trade(minus over paying) has been Doug Murray.

- nbartley9

Murray has been solid. Adds a physical element that the D-Corp was missing. I could see him being resigned in the summer.

Great value both ways, but it has to pay off, not that im worried or anything
- nelson911

I'm not a huge fan of not having a 1st or a 2nd this season, but if this team gets to where we hope it can get, I won't even care about the draft this summer.

Also, we had two 1st, two 3rds and two 4ths in last year's draft, so that help stock the prospect pool a little.

Who? Name one player that you've heard of that is just expected to make such a HUGE impact coming out of the draft this year...because I'm really struggling. I can name about 10 players off the top of my head that came from the past several draft classes that destroy anyone coming out this season...

Nugent-Hopkins, Larsson, Couturier, Hamilton, Hall, Seguin, Skinner, Tavares, Hedman, Duchene, Kane, Kadri, Ekman-Larsson, Stamkos, Doughty, Schenn, Myers, Karlson...I mean the list just goes on.

NO WAY that NHL 2013 draft class compares to the last several draft classes we've had.

- Killian

MacKinnon, Jones, Drouin, Shinkaruak, Barkov, Fucale, Lazar, Domi, Monohan, Pulock, Hartman, Klimchuck, Mantha, Morrissey, Subban, Jarry, Bjorkstrand, Horvat, Petan, Zadorov, Nichushkin, and many more are looking like players that will come out of the 2013 draft and be solid NHL'ers.

Seth Jones has potential to be better than any defenseman on that list.

Like I said before MacKinnon and Jones are going to be a slam dunk, but to be honest I don't know if I see any sure fire 100% slam dunks on that list. MacKinnon WILL win rookie of the year.

It's funny, they don't want to lose the asset, but obviously their asking price is too high. Gillis couldn't settle on a deal in the summer, or the deadline. Now, he'll go into another summer, with Luongo a year older, and likely a much more attractive Ryan Miller on the market to compete with (at least in terms of contract). Not very well played.

There is only a small number of teams that can take Lou's contract, you can't be expecting a home run at this point, and in the meantime you've wasted a chance to make your team better this season for a Cup run, when your window isn't all that long anymore. Horrible job.

Add to that, who will be willing to put together a package for a guy who will most likely be bought out before camps open in the Fall? Why give up assets to get a guy who will be UFA, especially when you can sign him to a more favorable deal at a lower hit? Vancouver is going to eat that contract...for years.
