29 of the 30 NHL teams have made SOME sort of trade/transaction in the last 3 weeks. All but one team in the entire NHL.

I'm not suggesting joining the pack of lemmings but c'mon. What's wrong with this picture?

- jmo16

Nothing really, considering the majority of those moves were completely minimal.

Read my earlier post. I think this offseason is going to be the time they make a big move or two. This team is not one piece away from contending for a title so I didn't expect them to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade. I could be wrong so we'll see

6 years is NOT a slow enough pace? I think they could get by without Streit
- jmo16

go look at chicago, los angeles and pittsburgh's record through their rebuild, note the number of years, and then note pittsburgh's 3 1st overall picks.

also worth noting, milbury absolutely gutted the franchise before leaving. Gutted. This franchise started this rebuild without anything at all of value. Now that they're showing signs of improvement plus some of the more promising kids are now in bridgeport, the future looks bright.

At this stage they're not a lottery pick team and they're not a playoff contender. Not the time to start dealing away the kids who will fill the roles they're missing or need to upgrade.

This was the deadline where they either stood pat, or traded away Streit and Boyes and brought up Nino and Donovan. Personally I think trading Boyes and Streit would have been for the best, even just for draft picks, but for 11 more games they have a shot to make the playoffs and then likely get bounced in the first round and bring the kids in for camp next year.

I expect Snow won't make any big moves this off season and will try to leave a couple of openings on the big club for kids in bridgeport.

Read it. If we had a half-way competent GM, it would have merit but we don't so expect little or no change effected by Garth. I'm not even complaining that we made no trades but why the phuck is Reasoner STILL on the roster? B'port out of playoffs. Why not Nino on a rookie line? (Nino/Cizikas & Lee) What's the downside? Wouldn't the kids who played in B'port have some chemistry? He's a do-nothing dip dunk who has gone back on his "plans" and produced nothin.

Who cares about Reasoner with Joensuu & Lee on the roster he is pretty much done I would think. Leave Nino in the minors and let him develop like he has been all year. They are finally doing things right with the kids after years of not and people are still complaining?? They are playing hard every night why not just enjoy the nice little run they are on. Its been a long painful road and now we are starting to see some of these kids producing and the future is very bright. Look at all the teams who throw money around all the time and get nothing back. Building from within is the way to go and that's what they are doing. I'm not a big snow fan but I can't kill him for sticking to his plan, especially when we are starting to get some results. My guess is Next year Nelson,Strome & Nino are on the big club.

Yeah, I looked at the TSN trade tracker and shook my head a bit when I saw the only Isles move going back through the history was the Thomas trade.

I have to say I don't really get why Snow takes his players off the market so early on deadline day...did it last year with PA and this year with Streit. Might as well pretend they're available and see what offers you get right to the end, no? Short of that, I wouldn't have minded a cheaper rental, just from the "message" standpoint...maybe show the boys you're making an attempt to add. Standing still always seems like indecision to me.

But at least they didn't do anything foolish like Washington.

Agreed. Maybe they shoot for the stars on a first line right wing, but otherwise I think it'll be Strome, Nelson, Nino and Lee fighting it out for two or three available spots up front and a similar D with maybe Donovan, possibly Reinhart.

Really? What's the downside of playing an entire line of rookies when you're literally teetering on the fence of making/not making the playoffs? I can't possibly imagine that's a question anybody needs answered.

I'm not defending Reasoner by any means, but hooolyyyy.

Would have been nice to see Boyes shipped out for like a 7th rounder or something. Anything to get him off the first line.

would love to see Strome Nino and Nelson here, but it certainly wouldn't be a wonderful thing to watch in the defensive zone. I agree with you, just not the right time. Even next year it would be tough to expect to see more than a couple rookies make the team as starters.

I agree with that, he's been awfully frustrating and is getting assists off JT and Moulson. They need another puck carrier on that line to allow JT to move into the zone and find some open space. Right now neither Boyes or Moulson can carry the puck and it means JT has to make space for himself and find one of those two sitting in front of the net. Tough when opposing teams can key on one guy, and probably explains why his assists seem low.

All Boyes has to do is let Tavares bank pucks off his stick into the net, and he isn't even very good at that. I don't think you mess with Nielsen's line just when they finally seem to have figured things out, but there has to be someone else to try on Tavares' wing...even a callup.

Edit -- usually when I rip into someone, they have a monster couple of games, so I'll just keep trashing Boyes for the next 10+ games here.

just as a side note because I'm leaving work for the day and won't be on this site tonight to deal with the aftermath:

PA Parenteau COL 36 14 22 36
Brad Boyes NYI 37 8 21 29

BUT

15 Colorado 36 12 20 4 11 28
8 NY Islanders 37 18 16 3 15 39

maybe we're better without PA!

I'm not sure why anyone would be disappointed in Snow not making any trades. It wasn't really expected in the first place.
- keaner17

Because there's a segment of this fan base that will be pissed off with Snow no matter what he does. He could get Ovechkin for a bag of pucks and someone would complain that it was a canvas bag and not burlap.

What are you spiking your kool-Aid with or are the Ice Girls pouring it down your throat for you in a low-cut top?

Have you followed the team this year? Last year? A perfect model of inconsistency. At times/areas, they've looked very good. Other times, especially in the third period, they've looked like the Bad News Bears. Lee & Casey are already here. You're saying you wouldn't swap Nino for Reasoner for 11 games? Maybe we get to see how much he's developed and can determine if he's worth keeping or trading over the summer....but again, this is Garth's Isles, where the motto is, "We don't make trades...we have chemistry on our side and every draft pick will be an nhl player."
We've been fed a pile of crap from Garth for too long now. When we miss the playoffs again, maybe some of you believers will finally realize what the real problem is.

I think the best trade was Minnesota getting Pominville. He would have been the RW JT needs on his wing. A really good opportunity to improve was missed.
