I just like that the people have been saying Streit sucked and needed to be traded are worried we are going to lose him for nothing in July. If he sucks so bad, why does it matter if they lose him July? - shinkdew
hahahaha...pretty sure you know the answer to that. at least i hope you do. |

I'm not sure why anyone would be disappointed in Snow not making any trades. It wasn't really expected in the first place. - keaner17

That's why I'm not going crazy. I still understand other wanting to see deals though. When your teams has not won in a long time there is not going to be a lot of patience. |

It would not shock me if the Isles make an impact move this summer. Like you said they have to spend eventually and they cannot keep everyone. Most of the team will be made up of the prospects but I can see a deal or two. Isles do not need 5 or 6 trades. It's not going to take a ton to get fans excited. - ses111
I agree. Not sure what many expected it was no secret there was 95% chance no trades would be made |

It would shock ME. Every trade deadline and offseason goes by without upgrading the roster.
Same old, same old.
"But....THIS summer will be DIFFERENT!!!"
I honestly hope so. |

Every trade deadline also goes by without downgrading the roster. Trades don't automatically = positive steps. We're in a spot right now that really doesn't allow us a chance to make many trades. |

I would not bet money on it but with the Cap going down and being closer to Brooklyn and some guys coming off the books and some guys ready for the NHL you figure this offseason is as good a time as any. Even if they make the playoffs there will be some pressure to build off it and if they miss the playoffs forget the outcry you hear for the Isles to be aggresive. |

Man the Caps traded Filip Forsberg to the Preds. Why did the give up on him already? |

Maybe the GM knows something but McPhee sure seems to have a long leash in Washington. |

this team is not in a position to make a big deadline deal to push for a cup because we don't have the players and the prospects we'd have to trade are the ones we need to fill holes. It'll be a slow and gradual process. I don't expect to see much done this offseason either to be honest. I'd rather see scrap let go and let the kids play for the spots next camp.
we can just as easily fall out of the playoffs in the last 11 games as we can make the playoffs. There is no point to be giving assets away for rental players to make a push when we're not strong enough to have a shot at the cup, and no point letting assets walk for nothing at this stage either. If this team is so fragile that trading streit would have caused them to plummet out of the playoffs then clearly we're not good enough to pick up rentals for a shot at the cup.

To play devil's advocate (not the NJ Devils, however)...

If you don't feel like reading, basically it's a summary of the 24 first round picks traded within 3 years of being selected since 2005. About 5 of them panned out to be as-expected. |

6 years is NOT a slow enough pace? I think they could get by without Streit |

glad Snow held onto Streit, was hoping maybe we would grab someone like Raymond, Clowe, or Pominville and scratch boyes. |
