well then let it be known that today, im not thrilled that streit is an islander being a UFA at year end, even if they agree during the offseason...its a risk i wouldnt have taken.
- LetsGoIsles

You can't trade him for a couple of 2nd or 3rd rd picks and maybe a low end prospect when you are tied for the 7th seed. I'm sure if Snow was blown away he would have pulled the trigger. On that note lets go Pens!!!!

I too will put that one on the record, and I'll gladly admit I was wrong if he somehow blasts home the Stanley Cup winning goal this year

Agreed. I think his value in a trade was better than his value to this club over the next 3 years, provided that trade would have landed multiple picks, prospects or a decent player.

I gotta say, very few of these trades today make a lot of sense to me...TBL giving up Conacher for another goalie...I thought Conacher was doing well for them? A bunch of other ones too...Boston getting Redden? What for? Oh well.

Would have been very interesting to hear what was being offered for Streit. Market was probably very little for Boyes.

Since most of the key players are under 25 and majority under 30, they still have alot to learn; so the moves in the last few days with the new young players was more positive than trading for older guys who expect to be on a PITT or BOS.

BTW BOS may be the winners since they added Jagr for the PP, Redden also can add something, but most important they kept the team intact.

I'm glad the Isles did not add big contract medicore talent to block some of the kids. I would have taken a Jagr for this playoff run. If the team makes the playoffs Snow gets a pass if not he will be hammered daily on this board like never before.

Understand that #Isles prospect D Scott Mayfield will make decision in next few days on whether to turn pro and sign.

Garth Snow: "We had lots of contact with clubs, but I'm confident in the group we have. Didn't want to disrupt the chemistry we've built"

About as predictable of a comment as one could make. I'd love to know what some of these "discussions' consisted of.

- keaner17

This is EXACTLY what I said Snow would say once nothing was done today.

FN terrible.

That's the beauty of being a fan and again Snow could have made a move to improve the playoffs chances he rolled the dice and decided not to make a move for whatever reason. Let's see the results and if the team comes up short fans will righly question the Owner, GM, Coach, Players, and stickboy as to why.

#Isles GM Garth Snow: "We had lots of contact with clubs, but I'm confident in group we have. Didn't want to disrupt chemistry we've built."

Hmmmmm....let's see....Pittsburgh adding players, Boston adding players....two teams ahead of us in points who, we have little chance against....but our "chemistry" is fine. If there's ever been a more obvious sign that Garth is clueless or incapable, I missed it. Garth is THE #1 thing holding this team back. WTF is he afraid of? Our roster needs improvement. Our coaching needs improvement...something every fan here agrees upon but not Garth...this is a stanley cup contending team according to him. Now watch as Streit walks after season for the 3-year deal he wants and once again we get nothing in return. Thumbs up Garth, your genius is shining brighter than ever before you phucking idiot.

Everyone in our division made at least one trade today. Devils, Penguins, Flyers and the Rangers

Interesting....

At Bridgeport on Strome's line, they have Nelson at center and Strome on the wing.

If you put Garth in a third grade lunchroom with two PBJ sandwiches and a box of Hostess cupcakes and Devil Dogs each (which currently are unattainable) and he was allergic to chocolate and peanuts, he'd refuse a trade for pizza and ice cream and instead pick a discarded anchovy sandwich out of the garbage pail and tell everyone how good it tastes.

I thought moves should have been made but I'll hold off going crazy. This chemistry thing is BS though. All is not perfect with the Isles. I'm sure a move could have been made that did not mess with the chemistry like the backup goalie spot.

Why is it terrible? Because it sends a message to the fanbase that our GM is either incapable or unwilling to make trades to improve his team. I told everyone I know (isles fans) that our GM would probably do squat and would cite that he didn't want to "mess with the chemistry". I $h!t u not.

To me, unless I'm wrong (and I could be), this is an epic fail at improving your team that is trying mightily for the playoff run.

are they 1 or 2 moves away from winning the stanley cup?? personally, i say no...id love to be wrong but i dont think any trade that would have gone down today would have helped the long term future of the team...
