I see the Isles making the playoffs if they can finish out the season posting a record of 7-3-1 over the last 11... If they do that, I see them def making it.

Obviously, if they go 6-4-1, they can make it but I see there being chance of being tied for a spot and it coming down to tiebreakers...

Just a thought... What do you guys think?

I think both the Islanders and Rangers make the playoffs with the Devils looking in from the outside. I want the 7th seed though not 8th. Islanders eem to have teh drive to make it lets just hope they can continue that pace

Listening to the MSG crowd last night, it was a bit subdued at end of the game. They realize the trade gave the team a bounce but making the playoffs is not the issue, they expect the team to win some rounds and they realize the team has to work in the new players. PITT wasn't totally prepared and when teams start to scout them the games will be closer. Credit them they have a solid goalie but the d isn't quite as great and deep as they like to believe.

*any team in the league* can be tough if they get all of their lines going and the d hangs in. Positive note is Poulin played good Tuesday so we may have some goal depth.

I'll say this..if Crosby is not back with the Pens, I don't have near as much of a problem with the 8th seed. I don't like 7th because I think Boston will overtake Montreal for that spot and we know how that goes.

Looks like top three spots will be 1) PITT, 2)MTL/BOS so finish 7 or 8 still is a tough matchup. Need to finish with a healthy team in momentum if we want to be in there.

Would love to see them the BPT top line for a game.

Yea I agree... In a perfecrt world the Isles get the 7th seed and play Montreal. Rather not play Boston in the 1st rd, like you said we know how that goes. Pitt with or without Crosby would be a hard match up but the Isles have at least played competitive with them.

Crosby does mean a lot but for some reason I rather play Montreal if they finish 2nd. I dont want any part of Boston though. Pittsburgh since we are used to playing them during the season but the Islanders have not played the Penguins at full strength yet this season and that could be scary

I think they have the momentum just hope they can keep it up. That is the scariest thing about this. These guys are new to all of this so I just hope they have the mental abilities to keep it up and not let the pressure get to them. they need to play loose

I'm going to repeat the most common thing heard on this board probably the last month or so. This game is very important tonight! Nice to be able to say that!

The Habs have first round upset written all over them. They are very beatable. Rather play them then the Pens without Crosby.

yeah, you hope that line still resonates with the players. Seems like it can lose its impact when every game becomes the most important game. But at the same time, no reason they shouldn't come out flying for every game from here on out. Hopefully the players are just as hungry for playoff action as we are. I forgot what it was like to be a little bit on edge during a game...I've even started good luck rituals...the Isles seem to play better while I'm drinking a beer, which is good for me on multiple levels

Definitely would rather play Montreal...no question. I don't think Montreal will be the number 2 seed though. Boston is only a point behind them and they have a game in hand. I'm pretty confident that it will be Pittsburgh and Boston in the #1 and #2 spots. GIven the choice between the two, I'm taking the smaller less physical team, especially if Sid misses the first round. Kunitz and Dupuis become rather ordinary without Sid there which as long as they insist on keeping Malkin and Iginla together, they become more of a one line team. Neither matchup is a good one for us but I'll take Pittsburgh before Boston.

Strome now has 1goal and 2assists in 5 periods at Bridgeport. (and he is playing the wing)

Are we really alluding to the second round of the PO's???

How about we defy the odds and actually make the POs first!

No one wants to play Pitt with or without Sidney. They are built for the long haul. Besides, Crosby will be back in time for the PO's.

All this talk about Pitt sucking without Crosby is ridiculous.

Not only are they down Sidney but two world class "D" men as well. Martin and Latang. They will adjust.

Many teams go thru a minor set back after putting together a LONG WINNING STREAK. SO, Dont be surprised if they kick Ranger butt the next time around.
