Or we could give up Erat and one of our prospects and get Forsberg!!! So pumped. I hope he turns out. He has a lot of potential, both great and underwhelming.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

No more Erat in gold. Erat and Latta to WSH for Filip Forsberg. What do you guys think?

Caps fans are po'd based on a few comments I've read. Others thinks Caps got hosed on the deal, Chattering class experts feel Preds won. Unknown probs with the 19 year old?

I don't think so. Could be great down the road. Potential is huge.

I like Marty Erat a lot and wish him the best. He's been a part of the team for a long time. However, this may turn out well for the Preds.

edit: and I've defended him many times. He'll be missed but still think this ultimately turns out great.

Erat has dissolved into a shadow of what he once could have been....or something like that. Very happy to get this good of something out of him in a trade. Hope it pans out.

But what about next year????? Will Forsberg play?

Probably a good chance. Poile says NHL ready and a "man's body already" per 102.5 comments.

Twitter says Poile is trying to get him here tomorrow just to see him in practice.

Let's see what happens when he's playing with Ovi though.

Really, REALLY doubtful.

I actually think it's a good trade for both teams. We get a kid who has size and SO MUCH talent (projected to be a top line NHLer in near future) and Caps get a player that may just need a change of scenery. I can see Marty on a line with Ovi and being a PPG player.

I am torn on this deal for you guys. On one hand I dont have to hear any caps fan chimming off on the Forberg pick for Varly trade any longer, now it just turns into a Varly for Erat/Latta trade. Seems like a good trade for us when you compare it like that.

But then again now we will have to see little Forsberg more often being division rivals now.

He could definitely bulk up a little bit more. NHL.com says he's 6'1" but only weighs 188.

Don't worry, nothing that our diet down here in the south can't cure.

I'm listening to Poile on 102.5 right now....

Am I wrong in thinking he sounds very pissed at Erat for asking for a trade?

Also, Poile used the word "victimized" when discussing what Suter did...has he not gotten over that? Is that cloud still hanging over the team?

He didn't seem pissed to me regarding Erat - just totally surprised. His tone and words made me think he was actually a bit pleased in that he turned it into a positive. He did say that if they wanted Erat, it would take something substantial in return. There is a good chance that the Preds got it in young Forsberg.

Thanks E. I'll begin my Preds rehabilitation on here...

And having taken a step back it does appear to me that the Nashville Predator organization is still operating from a position of an expansion franchise. They were supposed to make the opposite statement with the Weber signing but mostly because of injuries and a short schedule it's deja vu all over again.

I love getting Forsberg. Good job by Poile. Regarding Suter, I think, for good or bad, Poile will harbor the feelings of betrayal towards him forever.

what is the context by comments in the the fish rag? erat asked Poile what the direction of the team was then asked to be traded because he didn't have 6 or 7 more years for another shot. Mr Poile tell us what that direction is. My reading between the lines is we are in for a big youth movement.

also when asked if the Suter, Weber situation last summer had anything to do with it he said kinda.

does last off season have more to do with the play we are seeing from some players this year than we are thinking?

Mr Polie please go down the roster and asked every player if they want to be here and if they don't send them to the crappiest team.

I am pretty sure we are not in for a 6 to 7 year rebuild/reload. It could be a 1-3 thing...but with Rinne and Weber to build around...it is not like the Preds have nothing to work with. They will be alright.

Now watch they make the playoffs and the Caps don't....

The only positive I could see right now from management meaning Poile ....is to go with a new youth movement BEHIND THE BENCH. At least Erat had the sense to
Realize this system is old and tired and worn out...we not only need youth on the
Ice but some fresh ideas from the coaching staff. And it will never happen with
Trotz and CO. Maybe the players are sick and tired of the same old, same old...hell
They are sending players down to get them coached...isn't that their frigging job??
