If Kipper retires he saves the Flames over 5 mill on their cap next year.. - bixll
Apparently they will have around 30M in cap space after all the moves... |

how long before Gardiner asks for a trade?
#FreeGardiner - Pecafan Fan
He might.
On the other hand the Leafs organization took a TON of heat for the way they handled the Kadri situation. I was one of the people who thought they were F'ing it up.
At least *some* of what they did though actually helped Ladri develop. BUrke always used to say that some players had to be broken down before they could be built back up. You may not have liked Burke, but he was not stupid and he has forgotten more about hockey players and player development than you or I will ever know.
Oh and also... Randy Carlyle can't hear you from behind his Stanley Cup ring .

I hate when they do that.
As long as his player is young and making NHL salary, Im sure he and his client are fine with it. All they need to do is look at Kadri and understand its not personal, it's part of Gardiners development. - systemtool
If he would just play some defense, this would not be happening. |

If it wasn't for the Blue Jay sh1tting the bed because they think the World Series should just be given to them...
it would be a great morning.
With Vancouver still stuck with Luongo and Gillis looking like the stupid D-bag that he is, it is still a pretty good morning.
Too bad Luongo seems like a decent guy who has handled this with class. - Aetherial

Its not a problem. If he would play better D. He would not be on the bus, is what I am saying. He is in control. it is up to how he plays. |

As much as it is exciting to have a team that is supposed to contend...
It will also be VERY easy to come to hate this team...
All we need is a little more sleepy play, allstars yapping at the Umps, catchers who can't catch and a manager who, as near as anyone can tell, doesn't do anything more than say good morning and go fetch coffee for the players.
If they don't have a success, a LOT of success, they will very quickly become a much bigger joke, and much easier to hate than the Leafs even. |

Yup!
Im not one of those that think Gardiner's ZOMG AWESOME UNTOUCHABLE!!!
So if he wants a trade, hes hyped enough that I know the return will be good. Team comes before the player, and if the player pulls a suck, get lost. |

Agreed. Lawrie could end up looking like a big vag if they dont start winning. His injuries and arrogance wont fly for long. |

@jonasTSN1050: Ryan Hamilton now back on Leafs roster. Assigned and then recalled. Allows him to return to Marlies later in the season.
@jonasTSN1050: Only players recalled from AHL following NHL trade deadline may be returned to AHL for remainder of season.
Karomov not ready to return yet i guess... |

I guess if everybody had your feelings - 1/2 the league would be on suicide watch!!!
They get paid big bucks to put up with rumours etc....Reimer will take it like he always does....in stride IMHO |

Arrogance and entitlement could be two real unappealling themes with this team.
I am not remotely impressed with Bautista at the moment. I firmly believe the Raptors and Blue Jays consistently get the shaft because they are the only non-American teams. I have no problem with Bautista or the Jays being p*ssed off.
I do have a problem with the stupidity and selfishness of Bautista outwardly showing up the ump. This can only hurt the team.
I hope falling on their face out of the gate will instill a sense of humility. I am afraid that these guys are so arrogant that they will never actually believe they aren't winning it all... until they are mathematically eliminated in August |

All is fair and good, but Im not saying Reimer shouldnt be upset. Point is, nothing happened, so lets move on and stick to the facts.
Lots of players were and could have been impacted by trades yesterday. Reimer is just one of dozens, maybe hundreds.
What about the Dman who sits because Toronto added another? Or the Wild player who losses his job to Pomminville. Or Lindback because Bishop was added. etc etc etc - systemtool
agree. if Reimer is going to be the goalie the Leafs need him to be, he'll block this out, move and play well. if this affects him in any way, then he is not long for the NHL long-term, let alone Toronto. |

Oh, that's been playing for a long long time. During last season, it was "he'll get traded before the draft and we'll have two firsts this year", then it was "he'll get traded AT the draft, and we'll go into next season stacked", then it was "he'll get traded when the new CBA is put in place, the only reason he's a Canuck is they can't trade with no agreement in place", then "that's fine, now that the season has started, there is going to be some team desperate at the deadline and we'll just get more", now it's "he'll just get traded in the summer, and the price will be higher"
The entire lot of Canucks fans look like a bunch of idiots right now. Why on earth would they get a higher price in the summer, after a crap season, cap dropping significantly, goalie a year older, more goalies available? I think it's coming dangerously close to the possibility that they may just have to put him on waivers. And STILL, nobody will take him. They may have to eat a couple mil of his contract to get a taker. But then, what's the point? If they swallow $2m of cap hit, then bring in a backup for $1.5M, they're saving.... $2m in cap hit?
The Canucks are so screwed in this scenario, it's unreal, and those idiots are sitting there thinking "we're all set, gonna get a bundle this summer". |

Wtf was last night?!?!
9 k's in 3 innings, but a poop load of walks and hits.
How can you k that many batters, but still throw junk where you're walking and giving up hits at the same rate?
I think he's done too, which sucks because im still a fan of his.
Good job fingerbutting the Habs last night though. |

I see it in Bautista and Lawrie, but I just dont see it in the rest of the team.
It's early, they have too much talent not to bounce back, but you're right about there being some pretty ugly signs early on.
Im with you about argueing and showing up the ump. Lawrie did it too last year, and the worst thing you could do to your team is piss off the guys who dictate what happens in the game. |
