Don't be so sure about that. If Reimer and Scrivens choke, the odds are still pretty high that Nonis goes after Luongo if he's worth even less than he is now.

Even if the two we have tank, there's no urgency. The bar's been lowered by Gillis' last offer, and with such a young team, there's no urgency to do anything stupid.

Plus the playoffs change a lot of things. If SJ tanks, is Niemi available? Smith's a pending UFA.

We have options. Nonis should hold out and hope to get Lu for cheap as a UFA, if he decides on going elsewhere, poach any young talent that may be in waiting for the team Lu moves to(Lindbach in TB, Markstrom in FLA)

This is approaching buyout territory. And who knows what Lu will do. If he can't be with family in FLA, does he move to CHI? Can VAN afford to let Lu stay in the west?

If Reimer / Scrivens choke, Nonis is going to be on the phone for Luongo in a hurry. Luongo is what put Nonis on the map in Vancouver and he would do it again if the price was right. The price can and will go lower and that's what Nonis is banking on.
