his 34 points in 34 games in the ahl this season had him pegged as having offense as well, a two way defender.

his play at the nhl level would have be convinced he can't play offense, or defense. he's a blonde wig on a can of chunky soup.

Pro-rate Gardiners NHL stats this year. How much in front of Kostka?

that's exactly how i'd use this group.. but there's bound to be a million different variations of who #2-#4 are in here..

using that logic may down the servers.

I bet RC opts for some consistency. Gunn-Phan stay together ...Fraser-Franson stay together. The other 4 have 12 games to prove they deserve to hoist the cup.

He had some pretty good stretches actually. Particularly for his first time in the NHL.

You seem to suggest that they've just discovered he provides offense..... He put up 55 points 2 seasons ago. He's always had offense. He's been the highest or second highest scoring Dman on every team he's ever played for, short of his first two years in the NCAA. But you're the first I've ever heard suggest he has a two way game, or defensive ability.

agreed, kind've .. except the cup part..

think o'byrne is a lock for that pairing, gardiner gets a chance to flourish playing with someone who can educate him first hand on his defensive game at the nhl level, and pick up some shortcomings in his game in the meantime.

if gardiner can't excel under those circumstances, liles gets the spot with o'byrne. kostka just became komisarek.. imo.

i'm not going to disagree with that, but he was never pegged to be jake gardiner. his assessment, from what i remember, coming out of the AHL after camp, was a two way defender with more offensive upside than defensive.

i feel like at this point, you're officially splitting hairs. i could care less if kostka was a butterfly defenseman.
