For three years and they haven't done a thing about it! And now he's getting more ice then any other Leaf forward. What are we missing that Carlyle see's?
- honesthockey

Wilson had him as the #1 center and failed miserably but just because he was the coach must mean he's always right? You give Bozak credit because the Leafs are a playoff team but what does he get for the two miserable years before that? Carlyle is using Bozak because, once again, he's there by default. He wins face-offs and he gets along with Kessel. Default.

Yes, they do. Kadri replaces Bozak, Grabovski replaces Kadri, McClement replaces Grabovski and Komarov can play the 4th line.
- Two_For_Truth

So, the chemistry on the current lines? Gone. Kadri-Lupul? Just split em up, huh. Komarov a center? Nope. Kadri's success is in large part due to the opposition keying more on Kessel-Bozak-JVR. Poof! Gone. Key faceoffs? Komarov?

We simply don't have the assets to replace Bozak from within.

The argument I have about the Holzer angle is this: Holzer started the season, after playing a half a season in the AHL. Other teams and other players had to play catch up. It took about 20 games, but it showed the holes in Holzer's game, hence he was demoted. Bringing in another bottom pair defenceman, that can play a physical game, is important. When the playoffs start, we won't be able to dress both or either of MacLaren and Orr. We'll lose a measure of team toughness. By adding this defenceman into our lineup, it diminishes the need to dress all of the toughness on the forward lines. Players that take liberties on our goaltenders will think twice, before they crash our net. Hence the deal is good, since it equals what we got for Mike Brown. It's a wash.
- PrinceLH

Could have just kept Holzer and given him less ice time because that was really his biggest problem. Holzer played way too much against players he couldn't stop. If they gave Holzer less ice time, against easier opposition, he's better off. And don't expect O'Byrne to fight anyone because he can't.

Want to hear something ridiculous? Seguin got 12 minutes of even strength time last night, while Campbell got 16. Makes absolutely no sense. Especially in a game where there was 97 shots and it was up and down play and Seguin had 12 of them. Ignore if you want...just put it out there. Seems like there is absolutely no Bruins fans that really talk hockey here so i figured I'd throw it out there.

What do they talk about in the Bruins thread? The Red Sox?

Kadri can still play with Lupul because Lupul belongs with Kessel anyway.

Komarov can and has played center. And it's the 4th line so who gives a damn?

Key face-offs can be taken by McClement, something he's done his entire career as a defensive center and the reason they got him in the first place.

So where are all the Vancouver idiots telling us what Lou is gonna fetch in a trade.

Last I heard, Gillis' offer at 2:00 was Lou + 2013 1st for Dylan Yeo.

Apparently he improved that offer, but not enough I guess.

Isn't it wonderful?

Might be short lived though. If Gillis actually lowers his price like he now has to, Nonis might get the price he's been waiting for all along.

To the point he's on the ice more then any other Leaf forward. That has poop to do with default.

Grabovski goes back to focusing on offense while McClement gets the defensive duties.

SO it took trade to the Leafs for Obyrne to become a great shut down D and a tough player, in all honesty he isnt much of either. He can clear the net, but that's about the extent of his great shutdown D capabilities...

Probably because they're convinced that it's only a matter of time before Bozak busts out and has a 90 point season.

Right. It's like a tap. Turn it on. Turn it off. Still, only one line with any offensive chemistry.

No, it's definitely by default as it has been for three years. If Kadri could win 55% of his face-offs and Carlyle wasn't worried bout his ego getting too big, Bozak would be gone in an instant.

It's clearly working out well for the Rags.

I'd only be tempted to move Lupul to play with Kessel if it was for the sole purpose of trying to get Kadri's magic to ignite JvR.

Especially if Reimer and Scrivens choke between now and the end of the 1st round.
