Not every team is smart enough to see where they really stand. You think San Jose regrets trading Clowe and then replacing him with Torres? Not for a second. They replaced the toughness and gained two 2nd round picks while doing it. That's genius. The Leafs have replacements for Bozak and MacArthur. Getting 2nd/3rd round picks for them in a deep draft would have been genius but instead it's a lost opportunity. - Two_For_Truth
Have you considered the possibility that we end up re-signing one or both for deals that aren't overpayment?
Have you considered that there is benefit to having depth and that the players you slot in to replace them would themselves need to be replaced? |

Rentals make sense for teams that have a legit shot like the Penguins or the Bruins. Not the Leafs. If you consider Bozak and MacArthur "rentals" they're a waste of space. They have no playoff experience and they aren't worth keeping next year either. Kadri replaces Bozak and Frattin replaces MacArthur with ease. The only thing Kadri can't do is win face-offs like Bozak. That's it. - Two_For_Truth
We wouldnt win a faceoff for the rest of the season if we did that |

Even when people agree with him, the most credit he can bestow upon them is that they possess the very minimum level of intelligence necessary to read and post the phrase "I agree."
Nobody can possibly be on the same pedestal as him. |

No, you considered them rentals when you said that other teams pay for them but the Leafs already have them. They should definitely be traded for picks because they're replaceable with guys they already have. - Two_For_Truth
Yes but you're in a catch 22 UG. You're stating that the value of them to other teams was greater than to our own given their UFA status. I am clearly stating that instead of giving them to another team as a rental we kept them as our own because we can utilize them for the playoffs. (no matter how far we go) |

And Bozak and MacArthur are going to either get overpaid to stay or walk for nothing. Either you get a shot at something with a 2nd rounder in a deep draft or you get nothing. That's a tough one. - Two_For_Truth
or perhaps - in a slightly less dark colored universe - one or both of them signs a reasonable CAP friendly contract because they genuinely want to stay with a team that seems to be growing together....
heck... why don't they just trade everyone for draft picks an call up the entire Marlies team...
I'm surprised that you are so adamant about collecting 2nd round picks.. isn't only the top 3 or 4 players in the draft that have the chance to be stars? and that is afterall what the Leaf team needs - a 1st line center , a "real" #1 defenseman and "franchise" goalie right? |

You are so (frank)ing lost guy there's not a GPS on planet earth that can help you.
The Leafs are pretty much a lock to make the playoffs and you want Nonis to trade the guys that helped them this year for 2nd rounders.. brilliant...
There's also this thing called injuries in the playoffs maybe you've seen then or read about them somewhere, they happen and having depth helps.
Mac and Bozak are far from great players and if the team was not in the playoffs fine trade them but for you to take this stance is just complete nonsense are further proves you are nothing more than a contrarian. |

If Doug Wilson is so damn smart, he would have dealt with that dysfunctional group ages ago, and maybe not locked up Marleau again? That's genius!! |

A possible outcome though of trading Bozak and Mac for 2nd and 3rds is its possible and I would say more likely than not that those picks won't actually end up being anything even as good as those players, while those players flourish elsewhere.
And this year, let's be honest, there's no way the Leafs were going to take Bozak and Mac and more out of the lineup while the team is very close to being in the playoffs in a tight conference. We all know the ratings and sales are going to be bonkers and the city will be jerking off about it as one to see the Leafs in the playoffs again. If they win a round (why not), people will be naming their newborns Nazim. I'm positive if nothing else they kept Bozak especially for that reason.
I'm just happy that although they might have missed out on some late picks by standing pat they didn't give up any firsts or seconds. They've retained picks at least, that's a valuable pick to have held on to (also next year's pick we still have...for now) |

Yes, because 3rd liners like Bozak and MacArthur are so incredibly hard to replace. |
