I agree, Bozak does alright though, he's picked it up the last few weeks as well as everyone else.

Nonis must have felt he's to valuable to the team right now and I've got to agree. Wait and see in the offseason now.

- Leafland

It's probably Kessel. Bozak and Kessel are inseparable and that's what he's most likely worried about.

Wow Nonis is a genius. He just successfully went thru trade deadline day in Toronto without really making any impact and the fans are happy about it!!!

Wag the Dog was in full effect here.

There was NO trade that was going to get done, but they used Lou and Kipper to distract the fan base and the media. They played the media (probably with a little help from Dreger) in to leaving them alone on most deals. They amplified the goaltending situation that the media suggested and went with it. Leaf fans were begging for no deal and in that fact they negated the media frenzy for trade news. Then they just fed the media what they speculated.

Amazing job Nonis and team!!!

Nobody screaming that we didn't get in on any of the players traded. Jagr, Gaborik, Iginla, Pomminville, Roy, JBO and others moved any we were ok with it because we were so interested in making sure they didn't make a trade for a goaltender.

They stated he wanted scrivens and draft picks If hes not taking any cap back, then he can go (frank) himself

I agree...How stupid is this dude...He could have taken back a bad contract and also receive a pick/prospect for his troubles...

So what is the lineup with Ryan in the lineup for defense? They are saying he will be a good compliment for Liles? Where does Gardiner fit in this?

It was evident he didnt need a center, so cross off bozak and grabo. But come on, your telling me a guy like macarthur wouldnt interest him, or a guy like liles, or something plus a draft pick or something minor. Oh well his problem now

Keeping the players may be better than any non consequential draft picks they would have gotten. Take a young team on its first playoff run, and ship off a few of the players that might count as veterans on this core? Instead take a few mid round draft picks and take your young players on a slaughter run. Great educational/developmental experience to get these guys to the next level.

- joel878

Yes because Bozak and MacArthur is the difference between making the Cup finals and losing in the 1st round.

Might want to take a look at o'byrnes minutes before you keep spouting off with this crap. You're wrong.

Might want to realize that Holzer still played top pairing minutes and O'Byrne doesn't.

Maybe Bozak takes a discount to stay in Toronto, they will be getting married in August so they can live off each others salaries.

O'Byrne is going to replace Kostka. He shoots right, he's bigger, tougher, meaner and has more NHL experience.

Well lets not judge too quickly. Bozak is not our first line centerman but easily can become our 2nd/3rd. Kadri can easily take over OR we get a proper centerman in the summer through trade like a stastny, or thorton, or straight up trade of gards for couts.

And lets not judge ryan yet, lets see how he plays in his first game and games to come. Easily a good backup player for injuries as well to play it safe

Which is stupid because they're lying to themselves if they think they're never going to get an upgrade over Bozak. You think Kessel signs an 8 year deal with it in his mind that Bozak gets an 8 year deal and plays with him for the whole 8 years?

I think the Leafs are sitting nice right now...If Kadri continues his maturation he'll take over #1 duties and then resign Bozak as a solid #2...Then Nonis can focus on tweaking and fine tuning here and there during the off season...

For Forsberg? Unless you think Erat has an offensive explosion by getting out of the defensive system.

It's still better to have what little veterans this young core has then educate them on their first playoff experience without them. All in the name of what you assume to be a few fledgling mind roun draft picks? Get off your pedestal.

Again, maybe you should actually check his ice time out before you're running your face about holzer, because you're clearly assuming like usual, that because you're saying it, it's true. Here's a tip.. He's had game high minutes more than once this season.

If Bozak stays, he's not going to stay as the 3rd line center and he sure won't want to get paid like one either.

He's not much better than Holzer. Problem with Holzer was he was getting too much ice time. You give Holzer less ice time, he's pretty much the same player. Holzer looked worse than he was because he got overwhelmed by playing 20 to 25 minutes a game against top line players.

Can't say i feel sorry for Gillis, hes kind of a baby. I was fully expecting him to whine and cry about the Toronto media killing another deal today.
