Jagr, Derek Roy, Jay bouwmeester, and Jarome Iginla were all traded for less. It's not a rental though.

Wasted a 4th round pick on a guy that they already have in Holzer but outside of that, good to see them not piss away anything for older players.

However, should have traded Bozak, MacArthur and Liles. Better off with the draft picks and the Leafs already have in house replacements for all three of them.

Not really. He was underachieving and he has 1 year left on his deal. The Rangers pretty much just got back what they gave up for Nash. It's more or less a Nash for Gaborik deal delayed by 1 year.

Don't worry, it's easy to overachieve for half a season. Give that tandem 82 games and see where they end up.

Who knew you would have a problem with this.

You just outlined it yourself. They did something minimal, that's a waste. Doing something was a mistake, doing nothing was a good thing, but they should have traded other players.

Adding overpriced veterans is a waste. Unloading redundant, useless or pending UFAs is a great way to get more value. Trading Bozak, MacArthur and Liles could have got the Leafs at least three or four 2nd/3rd round picks and they already have a replacement for each one in the system. Wasted opportunity. Now Bozak either gets overpaid to stay or walks for nothing and MacArthur walks for nothing too.
