Maybe you should forward this vitally important information to every team in the NHL.

I don't know how they've missed it for 3 years.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I'm sure they know. It's evident when it's shoot out time. They are mostly aiming glove hand

hahaha ya i would really love to see Gillis have to ask Van ownership for the money to buy him out.... then him go play somewhere else on a minimal contract because Van is already paying him....
- dragus84

Also, it would be quite nice if he had a save % around .940 so that we can trollolololol nucks fans. win win.

I dont care where the shots are coming from. They face so many shots that if you're not a good goalie, your save % will show it.

A bad goalie lets in week goals on a consistent basis that cost teams games. Hasn't happened all season. The defense has improved, but alot of that comes also from competent goaltending.

Bottom line with Reimer.....

Has probably the worst glove hand of any NHL goalie.

If we can get Kipper or Lu for virtually nothing then it is a no brainer.

For me it has nothing to do with playoff experience. Reimer has shown time and again that he does not have an big league glove hand. Have the Leafs won with them this year, yes. They've won despite their goaltending. Has alot to do with the leafs offense.

- faceto27

You know who they said that about a couple years ago? Price.

Save % can be misleading. Vast majority of shots on leaf goalies come from the perimeter
- faceto27

Well wins don't lie and Reimer does a lot of that. He stole 3 points from Boston pretty much. And with our defense he actually makes a lot of rebound saves. However, his rebound control is awful at times. He's still young and developing. For the price id say he's doing a great job.

That is a near universally true statement. Every goalie faces more shots from the perimeter than within 15-20 feet.

Agreed, the leafs have given up prime shooting positions in years past. It's difficult for goalies to make a save when they give someone like (just for example) Stamkos, a clear shot in the slot. Most goalies can't save laser beams, unless they are from bad angles, then it's an easy deflection.

And a lot of second shots on Leafs goalies are coming from in close after they make the initial save, whereas most times after the first shot on Kipper, the puck comes back out to center ice for a face-off.

Oh wait, I don't have to rip Kipper anymore - my bad.

I really don't get the heavy criticism of Reimer and even Scrivens for that matter. I myself find them to be shaky at times. Sure, they can work on stuff to improve their game, but their numbers and the leafs record speaks for itself. Let the kids gain some confidence by battling down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Lu or Kipper doesn't give us the cup this year and we've seen for the last 8 years or so what giving up assets for rentals will do for the team long term.

I think the same can be said about most of our young guys, I woudln't mind a little tweak here and there today, but for the most part these are the guys that got us here... let's finish this year out and see what we have.

- dragus84

i rarely see them criticized. people more talk about their lack of experience. but the only way for them to get experience is to play them in the POs. that said, Nonis should be doing everything in his power to bring in a backup with at least some PO experience. riding 2 green goalies into the playoffs isn't necessarily the best idea.

First of all, that hasn't really been where he's been beaten in the shootouts this year (or during the games in general).

Secondly, if you have to resort to picking apart his flaws in Gary Bettman's little gimmick side show, then there probably isn't much to criticize in the first place.

I dont think its a bad idea for a young rebuilding team making the playoffs for the first time in about a decade. This year is just the first step on a long road to a larger goal. If we were a veteran team with a "win now" attitude, then having two goalies like Reimer/Scrivens would be a brutal decision.

Yandle for Bozak ++

That's the ticket, a little better D will nullify the need for better tending!!!! IMO

- Garnie

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC 7m Yandle price is steep. Two impact forwards, including someone who can be No.1 centre. Not getting traded unless offer PHO can't refuse.

I just think its been a team effort, it's not like Reimer drank some magic potion.

I remember a time when people were convinced that Price was done. Shooters had figured him out, he had no glove hand...

Yeah, how did that prediction work out. He is the best goalie in the league right now IMO.

Thats my point. Giving the D all the credit for Reimers good play and stats this season isn't fair to Reimer. He's been good, not great, and has earned the right to keep his job.
