I would argue that the surprising development this year was how well the Scrivens/Reimer duo has worked out.

If it weren't for these two, we wouldn't be here. It's totally counterproductive to take the net from them now.

What has Reimer done that was so spectacular? He never steals games and Scrivens had the same stats.. The guy is injury prone and the book is out on his weak spots.

Well, he's right. Reimer is unproven and not has no playoff experience. A veteran would be perfect who is proven. Nothing at all wrong with a short term solution. That way, if we make the playoffs next year, Reimer will be in the exact same boat, and we can go out and pay for another short term veteran. Or we could do something stupid and over pay to keep the first veteran we got.

I agree with everything you wrote above.

I just don't like the idea of Kipper.

- he's been an absolute sieve this year. No reason to expect he can turn it around.
- I shudder to think what we would have to give up to get him.
- I sincerely doubt he would be OK with being the backup, causing a poopstorm in the dressing room. And knowing Reimier's Aw Shucks, Praise Jesus attitude, I really worry that Reimer would simply defer to Kipper.

You want to get a vet? OK. Get a guy who costs you nothing.

Because if Reimer falters, we are pretty much going to be out of the playoffs at that point anyways.

This year is not the year to win the cup. It's the year to get some playoff experience.

That includes Reimer.
