Rangers landed Clowe yesterday. They're not done. In the market for a defenseman. Looking at many options. #tradecentre

Pete, you are one of the most level headed guys around, but you really seem to have almost an axe to grind w Kreider, he's a good kid, no attitude, we all expected more from him, but no way wd I deal him unless it was really a no brainer trade.

Kreider is a victim of his own start in the league. He was playing in college a year ago. To expect him to come out and score 25-30 goals is ridiculous.

I haven't been on the board much lately, but how about you blame Richards and Gaborik? Kreider's lucky if he gets 10 minutes a game. I'm not laying all the blame on Torts, but I'd leave this kid at the Whale, then have him play sparingly with the Rangers.
I think the Isles have finally done the right thing with guys like Nino and Strome....we'll see if it pays off.

they are the reasons the Rangers are struggling for a playoff spot. Reasons 1A and 1B.

They think pretty highly of him up there. And, rightfully so, he's definitely number one material. Factor in Anderson's injury being worse than originally thought....he's gonna be worth a pretty penny, for sure. I'd rather not trade any prospects, I'm finally legitimately excited about where my team is going.
- potvin05

The organization is loaded with prospects, I would make that deal in a second, Bishop is a young #1, something a 1st or 2nd rounder is worth trading for, have Koskinen or Nillson shown any promise?

I don't blame Kreider. I suggested trading him for Dimitri Kulikov. Or Zack Bogosian. Or Erik Gudbranson. Or, in a package for one of those players.

And I don't have an axe to grind. I just don't think he is going to turn out to be what most people think he is going to be. That is my personal opinion. I don't dislike the kid. There is no reason to. But the constant Chris Kreider tire pumping is getting tiresome. Yeh right, its all John Tortorella's fault. The same guy that has developed MDZ, Derek Stepan, Carl Hagelin, Ryan McDonagh, and other young talent quite nicely.

Exactly.

I've poster here long enough (and so has he) that I know Pete is not the knee-jerk reactionary type, but I have 2 words for any of you that want to package Kreider for a player of Kulikov's type: Todd. Bertuzzi. Run off of Long Island for not being Clark Gillies. Don't let the same thing happen to this guy.

I know we have often said that this season reminds a lot of us of 1993, but right now, today, I have a very 2002 vibe.

Anyone remember?

They had just traded for Bure, and then on deadline day, they had a game vs Vancouver at MSG and traded Mike York to Edmonton for Tom Poti. Poti didn't get there in time for the game, they lost the game to Vancouver and went into a tailspin, missing the playoffs for the 5th straight season.

This deadline is reminding of that

So....you'd rather play Kreider 8 minutes a night, putting him on the bench at any indiscretion, or would you rather he play 15 a night at the Whale and get his full confidence back.

My point was, you SHOULD have more than enough talent in the bigs not to have to rely on some kid not even a year removed from the NCAA. Being an Isles fan, I do have full authority on one thing, you know what that is?

Bringing prospects along too fast, asking them to do too much, and watching their confidence crumble along the way. I know a lot about that.

Those guys never got jerked around, DZ was 19 and spent the entire year in Hartford, they didn't keep calling him up for minimal minutes, I understand this isn't the most optimal season for growing pains but I think Torts is a complete hypocrite and is hurting Kreider more than helping him.

Kreider did play 4 full seasons at BC, so he is further along then we may think, i get some of what Pete is saying. The babying of him is not his fault. Why o why he gets benched or demoted to the 4th line when stooges like Boyle get endless 2nd chances baffles me.

Big big game between our teams on the 13th. Ill be there, 7 rows off the ice behind the net, going w the brother in laws & Becs Uncle/ nephew. 6 of us Rag$ fans screaming & whistling!

Kreider is a 2009 draftee. He was playing in college hockey last year, because against the organization's will, he decided to go back for his junior season. He is playing 8 minutes a night, because he is clueless in the defensive game, and his offensive game hasn't been good enough to make up the difference. Next year will be his 5th full year since his draft year. Conversely, JT Miller went the OHL route, got into the organization earlier, and is substantially ahead of Kreider in his all around game, despite the fact that he is two years younger.

Do you think Florida would even trade Kulikov or Gudbranson for him? Or would the Jets trade Bogosian for him? And if you don't think they would make those trades, am I really suggesting something so crazy. Those guys are in their early 20s. I am not suggesting that the Rangers trade Kreider for Mark Recchi for christ's sake.

That season ended dreadfully too. I was at the gm that essentially finished Richter's carreer, he took those 2 slappers to the mask, little did we know he got hit in the head in warmups too. Remember watching the replay the next morning & seeing Jim Ramsay's shake of the head when Ron Low asked how he was. Terrible season. 9/11 started it off, Theo Fleury & all the antics, the York for Poti deal.

Dude, Montreal is not trading Prust, he is the man up there, they give him a ton of credit for they're turnaround.
