I think Gaborik is moved around the draft to recoup some of the draft picks traded. I am not worried about the picks. Plus like you say, I don't think the Rangers are done. At least one forward gets moved.

In order for Torts system to work, he needs bigger, grittier players willing to get dirty. I think Clowe provides that. Plus I think his game will help spark the team, give it a pulse that has been lacking all year. Only time will tell, but I like the move

- TPC

I tend to agree; the rags need grit. They have scorers, they just
Need to get their act together and rather than adding someone
Like Derek Roy I think a tough-to-play-against guy will serve them
Much better. That is what they've been lacking since losing their
Grinders and depth guys from last year. They've got plenty of
Skill guys already.

Potentially trading for Clowe really could be a disaster.

I know it's not like me to look at the negative side of a Ranger situation, but oh man, if Clowe is disappointing, the Rangers decide not to try and re-sign him and they end up missing the playoffs, WOW

pretty damn risky

I expect a pick or two to be replenished by the time of the draft though, maybe even today.

Lot of players around now, unless the plan is to keep all of them and to send Kreider and Miller back to Connecticut during the stretch run.

Mixed feelings about the Clowe deal, def could pay dividends if he can regain his scoring touch & be that physical presence in the dirty areas we know he can be. But if we miss the playoffs & he walks in the offseason, ooffaa this is a bad deal.

Likely not done making moves, next 9-10 hrs will be interesting. Please please deal one or all of Boyle/Pyatt/Asham Slats, dead weight!

Apparently when Sather got off the phone with Wilson his last words where "these picks are not the ones your looking for,you will trade me Boyle for Boyle tomorrow"

It's unfortunate that Pitkanen got hurt last night, I would have loved a chance to get Mcbain

This is a post PRE-trade from a Sharks fan in they're thread in regards to Clowe, makes me feel a lil better...

Clowe is such a class act. So humble about the future of him when asked questions. I would take him any day if i was a GM. He has not scored but us sharks fans who know him know that his skill has not dropped at all. Just a off season for him. Everyone has them.. If clowe gets traded which i seriously hope not that team do not know how much of a great player and guy they are getting.

I think this is what is going to happen. Trade Boyle or Pyatt, my guess is they try to keep Boyle and send the kids down. You can play Asham on a 4th line, call up a Haley if need be. I agree with why Torts won't play these guys in critical spots so if that is the case let them play on the farm.

I think this was a great move for the Rangers IMO. This guy is having a down season but I look at the #'s he has put up and he brings so much value to this team with his play. This is exactly the type of player this team needs right now. http://sportsillustrated....2/rangers-ryane-clowe.ap/
The last paragraph of this article gave me all I needed to know of the type of player we are getting. We need to to fix the middle of this lineup. We all love Miller and Kreider but idk maybe they just aren't ready right now. It was easier last year to throw a Hagelin or Kreider out there because we were winning games.

I think it's imperative that if the Rangers think that Staal is going to be out for the remainder of the season that they go out and get a D-man. I can't take this team seriously with Strahlman, Eminger, and Hamrlik playing every night. Strahlman has been playing like shyt the last couple of weeks. Eminger has picked up his play of late and well Hamrlik just (frank)ing blows.

Rangers are going to be busy today if I had to guess. I think Pyatt, Asham, and possibly Boyle get moved.

For all the heat that we give Boyle, I would much rather keep him then Pyatt for the remainder of the season. He kills penalties, and when he is playing well he can work the boards. And when the Rangers need to bang and forecheck a little, they can throw Boyle and Clowe on the wings flanking Miller. I think Miller sticks with the team, and Kreider goes down (if anyone does). Miller has been generally pretty good, although it would be nice if he could score a little more. Miller was bad last game, but he has played in some critical spots this year.

you know what's crazy?

last year at the deadline I was pleading with Sather to deal our first rounder to acquire more depth for a Cup run, they held on to both their first two picks and obviously we didn't have enough scoring to take us all the way.

This year we realistically aren't close to the contenders like Pittsburgh and Bruins are in danger of missing the playoffs all together and now he decides to trade draft picks.

A trade like this for a Ryane Clowe or something similar would have freaking ruled last year.

Obviously we are a better team today than we were yesterday, but are we even in the same ballpark as Pitt and Boston? I don't think so.

Should have thrown the chips in last year. I know they were negotiating with Columbus for Nash until the very last minute last year and that ultimately took all of Sather's attention, but I don't know, very mixed about this trade.

Had the Rangers included Krieder or Miller at the deadline last year for Nash, people on here would not have been very happy.

I'm not saying it will happen, but I would not be shocked of they move Gaborik today,

Strahlman played extremely well when given a ton of minutes a month ago, but has regressed a bit since then. Eminger has been solid when given the chance. I would almost prefer Bickle over Hamrlik (his better days are long gone). Sather needs to go afrer McBain.

No, but IF Hank gets hot, we all know he can steal a series or 2, or 3....you get my drift, Clowe is just the acquisition who is perfect for the playoffs.

He is a great fit, on the ice and in the room. The price gets set by the market. No problem with the move. If you try and win every trade you may never get what you need. This was a need and you get what you pay for.
