They really traded Gaborik to Columbus, and didn't get a 1st rounder back?
- Pete V

I guess Moore and Brassard are two former top picks. I guess Columbus is making a ruin at the cup post Nash

Brassard and Moore both 1st round picks, can't believe Gaborik OK'd Columbus.
- cranford93

He's got some chemistry with a few players there. Blue Jackets are like Rangers-lite. Vinny, Dubi, Artie (I miss this guy)...Gabby played well with all of them.

I am ok with Brassard, but there has to be another move because this makes a jam at center. Dorset is on IR with what looks to be a fight related injury (so he officially is done), and Moore is a prospect. Hope they have expiring contracts.

I'm surprised no 1st rounder. I thought for sure Gaborik was gonna get them their 1st rounder back from someone.

Yea... I think we coulda gotten more value. We are trying to do Nash for Gabby and undo the Nash deal in that sense and what we had to loose to get him. IMO

Clowe = Dubi
Brassard = AA
Moore = Erixon
Dorsett = Prust

Thats how I bet Sather see it.

I don't know how to feel right now. I guess they opened up space for the future, could another deal be in the works, they have a lot more room. Signing the RFA's shouldn't be a problem. Do we call back Miller or Kreider for tonight?

I'm just gonna say this now, the fact that Gaborik OK'd a trade out of NY to Columbus says a lot about John Tortarella and I fully blame his archaic philosophy for killing this sniper.

It's great to get the cap space but it's sad that another big name free agent failed here, continuing a shameful trend

Good to hear. He is the piece I don't know anything about it.

So now you bring in Moore, another young defensemen, what does that mean for McIlrath and/or Skjei?

Congrats, wish the Isles were able to do that with Yashin back in the day! I assume Sather at some point will buyout Richards...

They have alot of young defenders now. Not much room for Dylan McIlrath. Maybe he goes today. But man, talk about dropping a bomb in that room.

Not so fast. Gaborik was a lazy back-checker and virtually useless in any defensive aspect of the game before Torts got a hold of him. Additionally, Gabby is on pace for his off season after a solid 40+ goal year. Can you blame Torts for two (out of 3+) 40-goal seasons?

I'm shocked too...I guess it also pretty much increases the liklihood of extending Clowe too....they have a whole new hockey team. Is Moore even going to be up or in Hartford. I guess they waive Hammer? We still have 6 minutes...
