This deal is important for our team’s financial flexibility moving forward.

I'm assuming he is talking about the Jokkinen trade. You couldn't find somewhere else to trade him to?

I was for a conditional 7th. Works for both teams.

How much shat would the Rangers be getting if we were making all these moves?

I understand that part of it but why make the Pens deeper, I know Rutherfords job is to only worry about his team but sheesh

Great acquisition! very happy that either NJ and NYI didn't get him\\

EDIT: Holy crap Conacher going back the other way, very surprised, Ottawa is going to be a very good team for some time to come.

I don't think the Leafs should or will do that. I think Luongo will go back to Florida, maybe today, but more likely in the summer.

Had the Rangers included Krieder or Miller at the deadline last year for Nash, people on here would not have been very happy.

I'm not saying it will happen, but I would not be shocked of they move Gaborik today,

- OLDSCHOOL#6

Gabby is the only goal scorer that is available for us; and we don't have to give up anything to get him. Just have Sather enforce Torty to let him play his game. Just because we aquired Nash didn't mean that Torts had to shift him to LW to be a defensive forward for the first 30 games. Now he's skating better on his career RW position and getting more chances, and the results will come.
If we trade him for nothing, it defeats the purpose of the Clowe aquisition, and in effect, makes us look like we are sellers today.
Also, who else is going to score goals for us against the Islanders if Gabby is traded?

By the way, according to Steve Simmons of TSN; for those who put down the price paid for the Clowe trade; 54% of all the 2nd Round picks between 2000 to 2010 never played in 1 NHL game. Was that a good chance to take here in this Clowe trade? Only if we are not trading Gabby. For the past month, everyone here has wanted Clowe, but without giving up one of our top prospects. Sather did that for Tortorella. He's a Torty type of player. Now many are mad about the move's cost!
If we didn't get him, this site would be in an uproar at this point with under an hour left in the deadline, that Sather stood pat. Bettman doesn't run the Rangers like he does the Penguins, especially on signing off on trades; but Boston got even or more with getting Jagr instead!

Just goes to show how bad Tampa's goaltending was. I think they overpaid. Do you appreciate Hank a little bit more?

I was just thinking Tampa has traded for about 75 goalies since the Rangers made Henrik the #1 goalie in NY

I like Conacher as a player but I do think the he needs to play with skilled players to be successful. I'm sure he'll do fine with Ottawa and like the move on their end.

For Tampa it just shows again how badly the need a goalie. They thought Lindback would be the short-term solution but he has not played particularly well. Now it looks like they'll go with a tandem of Bishop and Lindback which could be pretty solid.

he's in 2nd now was 24 points (huberdeau is in 1st with 25 lol).

but apparently he's slowed down a lot and only scored 2 goals in the past 17 games. he's not that good of a skater and they have other players in the minors that can take his spot.

i think it's a good hockey deal for both sides.
