ALexander Barkov

The youngest player (16) to ever score a point in the Finnish SM-liiga league. His father was a Spartak Russian hockey boy, who married a Finn. A patient player who is strong on the puck, and is confident he can hold on the biscuit while surveying options, and then surprise with excellent passes to the open attacker. Possesses tremendous hands and vision. He is working on his skating and speed, but has excellent balance and ability to handle the puck at his top speed.

When I first glanced at the Finnish roster in Lake Placid and saw the Barkov name I instantly thought where is the Russian tie. Supposedly his dad competed internationally and his mother played on the Russian national basketball team, so you know where the athleticism stems from. He is already a good-sized center man at 6’2” 205 lbs. as he is actually two weeks shy of being eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft as late ’95 birthday. He was the youngest player out on the ice at the Herb Brooks Arena this summer. You could see he was a bit younger by his approach to the game being a tad apprehensive, although he also displayed at times his deceptive moves and skill sets. He is an intelligent player at 16-years old, shows poise with the puck, and good offensive instincts. Overall, he is a valuable all-around player who will return to Finland’s WJC roster for a second go-a-round and garner considerable NHL attention this season.

ISS Top 30 #3 Sasha Barkov @Barkovsasha95 Ultra-talented playmaker dominates on both sides of puck. Power Fwd w/good puck handling ability.

My best case is Drouin at 3
go get (C) Monahan at like 9

- hubie

IMO Monahan will be a lesser version of Toews.

College BB! Usually by the time the hockey season ends the Blue Jackets are irrelevant hopefully that changes though
- Stripes77

Ive lived there I know. There is still a good enough niche of people who will go to the games. OSu BB is only popular when they are good ergo if jackets are a playoff team they will go

you can do that with Ennis.. ... but not Grigo or Hodge..

that just doesn't seem right to me? I have never heard of either of them every playing Wing.

Grigs has played wing in Quebec. He's mentioned it before I'm pretty sure.

Do I really have to post the numbers to show that Weber hasn't outplayed Myers? Minutes per game played, Goals, Points, all more than Weber. The only difference is that Weber has played his role better than Myers. Has Myers been good? Absolutely not, but like I said before, what would you rather have on your team, 6 Mike Webers or 6 Tyler Myers? It's the same argument as what would you rather have, 9 Jason Pominvilles or 9 Steve Ott's? Talent is more important in this league
- sbroads24

Numbers don't mean anything. Ask anyone on this board without a bias towards any player which player has played better this season.
It's been Weber hands down! Now stop please.

edit: Myers having talent is still up for debate in my opinion by the way.

Ohio will always be a football state first. College Hockey will never take off in the United States like College Football and Basketball has.
- Stripes77

Basketball sucks and I think Buckeye Football isnt as popular as it used to be accept in Columbus. You get what 12 13 games in collage football and 17 to 21 in the pros. The NHL is a bigger bang for the buck IMO and nothing lasts forever.

So we have 3 guys in Grigs, Ennis, and Hodge Podge that can shift to wing if we get a C

If we were to build a team that plays 9 POmmers vs 9 Otters the 9 Otters wins more than the Pommers. Hockey is more than stats always has been always will be. 6 Mike Webers have played more sound D than 6 Tyler Myers.

I would rather have 6 centers on the top 3 lines then have a winger convert like leino or hecht on the dot
let alone an adam mair as the second line center

Armia - Grigorenko - Girgensons as our second line one day...

I agree its alot easier to make a center a winger than make a natural winger a center!!
