It would have been a lot better for the Flyers if he traded Zolnierczyk for a 6th rounder. Rosehill is worthless.

Harry Z is nothing to write home about, but adding a goon is a wasted roster spot.

this is my only beef. don't like dressing 11 and 1/5 forwards

There's absolutely a reason to still be talking about it. It's a trade that wasted an asset to fill a non existent hole. Would have rather seen them get a late round pick. Or call up Derek Mathers.
- Jsaquella

Something has to keep the chatter going.. its the whole purpose of this board. They aren't really doing a whole lot.

The bigger problem I have is that they waived a much better player, who is also a fighter in Sestiov
- jak521

Yeah. Sestito is at least a capable player. They gave him away.

Maybe it was a move for Z's benefit. We've got a wealth of players better than him at forward, in Anaheim maybe he'll find a niche? Anyways, lovely weather out there, and we get a nominal benefit of $50k in cap space.
- BulliesPhan87

The trade doesn't really bother me since nothing of value was lost. It will bother me if Rosehill is on the team next year.

They're supposedly in on everyone in the rumor mill, there's tons to talk about.

I've heard Clowe, Vanek, Myers, Burns and Erik Johnson for starters.

I don't think people have a problem losing Harry Z, I think its what they got for him that has people still talking.. Probably could have gotten more.

The idea of Rosehill playing irks me more than trading Z for Rosehill. But if it boils down to him playing two minutes, and the balance of ice time going to better players, I really can't bring myself to care.

If they re-up Rosehill, I'd be irked.

Well Sestito was brought up, he's a better player than Rosehill and he was thrown out on waivers, then a trade is made for a goon. The reactionary bullpoop is really dumb.

I think Bill explained it perfectly. No one is giving up a pick for a guy like HZ.

Could have traded Harry Z for a 7th, and found out if Link Gaetz felt like lacing them up on more time.

It's not that they traded Zolnierczyk. It's that they're wasting a roster spot and contract slot on a guy that can not play hockey. If Voracek didn't get into that fight, Jay Rosehill is in Anaheim still.

The best part is, Rosehill won't even stop the kind of play that happened to Giroux. Even if he's on the ice at the time, which he won't be.

- Jsaquella

Agreed. Like I said last night, by the time Rosehill hits the ice after an "incident" it will just be a goon vs. goon fight. Big whoop.

What type of player are you going to get in the 6th round. Only some 6th rounders even see the NHL. Good ones are very rare (unless your Detroit). You got to ask, will Rosehill be better than Shelley (now) or Sestito (was)? Because that's the role he'll be filling. And, as for next year, Rosehill will be better than any 6th draft pick.

FYI. Maybe he can fill in for Defense

http://www.hockeysfuture....m/prospects/jay_rosehill/

Hockey Future has Rosehill listed as a defensive defenseman...

"Rosehill’s greatest assets are his size, strength and punishing physical style. He is never one to back down from challenge and delivers bone-jarring hits as often as the opportunities present themselves. He’s a solid defensive defenseman that progressed quite nicely over the course of his freshman campaign."

Not sure you could get "more" You see better players than Harry Z go unclaimed on waivers.

With Talbot out, the Flyers could have used Zolnierczyk as a 4th liner. Every player is an asset. He can be a bit of an agitator and provides good speed. He was a bit of a spark plug for the Flyers this year. Rosehill is a flat out goon. There's literally nothing he does but fight the other team's goon.

I don't mind so much trading Zolnierczyk as I do in adding an player whose talent level is ECHL, but who is in the NHL because he can fight.
