Jagr has said on several occasions that he has wanted to play in Edmonton. I don't know if that will play into anything as Tambellini still doesn't seem interested in winning but we got a player that wants to be on the team. - bsteinley
It's all about the money for him. He lost a pile of his dough so he's milking all he can right now out of his last couple years. Edmonton would have taken him but not for what he was asking. |

I think Benier has been ovehyped from day 1. - sanfordnson
1.95 GAA and a .919 s% in a year when Quick (Top 3 in the league) has a 2.52 GAA and .895 s% on the same team.
That is a gamble I am willing to take. You get better stats than quick on the same team and I am putting my money on you being better than duby. |

As per TSN.ca
The Dallas Stars have decided to trade Jaromir Jagr to the Boston Bruins for two prospects and a draft pick.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reported earlier Tuesday that the Stars - who are 12th in the Western Conference - would look to move the veteran forward before Wednesday's deadline.
Jagr leads the Stars with 14 goals and 26 points this season, while playing 34 of the Stars' 35 games.
The league's all-time leading European scorer, Jagr returned to the league last season with the Philadelphia Flyers before signing a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the Stars for this season.
The best teams in the NHL make it look easy. Tambelini is having a stroke trying to make moves to bring any "real" talent in.

59 career games. I dont think an 11 game sample size this year is enough to go by. |

Even though it has been mentioned time and again that Bernier backed up Duby at the Spengler last summer....
Bernier is not an upgrade. You do not give up assets for something that is the same as what you have. Also LA is one of the best defensive teams in the league. |

#1. Why the (frank) would the Oilers want Roy anyways???
#2. WHY THE (frank) WOULD THE OiLERS WANT ROY ANYWAYS?
- Iggysbff
Because he is cheap to get, he can put points up and he can pitch in on any of our bottom 6 roles if we have injuries on a playoff run. Plus Tamb is terrible at drafting. Our picks are going to be thrown away anyways unless Katz steps in or we pick first.

Once agian folks....Tambi has said time and again...
They are not giving up assets for RENTALS! Get it through your thick skulls! Adding Jagr at that price would have hurt long term. |

to wit, Dubnyk is 5-3-2 with a 1.63 GAA and two shutouts in his last 11 games. |

Roy is in Van now. Pointless to keep going on about it.
As far as the drafting goes, still way too early to judge that. Most 2nd round picks or lower take time to reach the NHL. That end of things is on our development now. |

WHOA we got Kessy. Don't count us out. If that guy starts taking roids and learns to skate, in a couple years he might even get offered a contract and get a chance to play in OKC. |

Roy is a RENTAL! he does not fit the bottom 6. He is small and soft and DIVES. No way you give up good assets for that.
And the Oil have done pretty well drafting the past few years. |

Anyone catch the Hartnell and Richards comments towards Hartnells ex?? That was (frank)ing hilarious... nice to see them tell it how it is... money sucking female doges... kinda of funny- as one guy stated:- Marriage is like a hurricane- at first there is lots of sucking and blowing- by the end your left with no house!!! |

Over the past 3 years there are only a handful of picks outside of round 1 that are or have played in the NHL.
I'm glad that Tambo is NOT making stupid deals right now. |

Its a gamble but considering the shortened season, we don't have much other choice than taking 1/3 of the season. You have to admit it is intriguing though. I wouldn't give a ton for him but if he could be acquired for something reasonable, whats the worse that can happen? He is obviously a viable backup and Habby is going. I would give them Potter, Jones and Omark for him. Or some other combination of extras. |

Agreed. Ryder def has talent but where would he go on the Oilers? Kassey, could fill an important roll here. |

That offer would get you laughed at. Remember the Flames were talking Iggy for Bernier?
Come on. Bernier is not worth what the Kings are asking. But he's not going to be gotten for our scraps either. |

You can't pick a specific subset of 11 games. I picked the games LA played Bernier in, that was not of my doing. Maybe Dubnyk is the better goalie (I doubt it) but he could be. I am just saying that Bernier's numbers are impressive compared to Quicks, whose numbers are really the only goalie you can compare them to since they are on the same team. |

Trade regarding needs. Considering the unlikelihood of either becoming an impact NHLer I barely gave it a second thought. |

Dang my not checking current stats. My point stands though. He is not one of our top 5 prospects and will probably never get a contract. |

I remember hearing the same thing about Petry, whos arguably our best dman now. Like I said before, you cant jump to early conclusions about later picks. I also remember having a convo with someone convinced that Plante was the next Regehr. |

You are most likely correct. But I like seeing that management is beginning to attempt to fix, all be it a little timidly, the issue of size with the roster |
