I agree however I doubt it happens.
- SABRES 89

They could be just asking Darcy to amass as many draft picks as possible.
Doesn't mean he will be the one doing the drafting if ya know what I mean.

happening.....

Instead of just being negative try ponying up an opinion to what he will get in the UFA market...

- toddkac

Since you just returned from a sabbatical, you missed the 10 other times we've discussed this.

Vanek only gets an 8M+ AAV on a 2-4 year term. Theres no team thats going to give Vanek a max deal (7 years) at 8M+ AAV that will pay him through the age of 38. Its not happening.

if the sabres can get Vanek for around 6-6.5 then resign him. Tough for a player sdtill in his prime to go from 7.2m a season to 6m a season.....never gonna happen.

Yea I did and that's part of the reason NOBODY wants him here in Buffalo, let alone folks on this blog. Guy has never been the same after that, why in the hell would the Sharks of all teams move him when they are trying to win a cup? He should be in jail not playing Hockey.
- SABRES 89

I agree, the guy is a lowlife scum with money!!! Karma is ugly and he'll get his...

If vanek was for less than 7M per year.. I would be a lot happier with him... but the fact that he is a top 10 paid player in the NHL.. sickens me... because when I think of top 10 players in the entire NHL.... Vanek is not even in the top 25.

Can someone please tell me how Pittsburgh is fitting all these players under the cap
- Dannymik

NOt positive but wouldnt money from trading J Staal help a bit. Id bet he front loaded the big ones.

Hes a great GM and knows how to work the cap.

ya it sucks but with the cap era players are no longer paid for skill but more for demand. If there is not much in terms of UFAs next year then it will be a bidding war with 3 or 4 GMs and teams like the Rangers always find a way to give out the money.

What do you guys think it would take to get Tallinder back here? I'd like to see him and Myers re-unite and see if Myers can be the calliber player he was when he was a rookie.

i was thinking he'd be more of a veteran leader on the backend. we just shipped out 2 defensive veterans, and would maybe like to see one replaced for the right cost?

The problem with Myers is not who he is teamed with on the ice....IT IS HIS TERRIBLE WORK ETHIC!!!!!!!! HE IS LAZY AND NOT COMMITTED TO DOING WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!

He signed the offer sheet from the Oilers. How is that not his fault?

The contract is not Darcy's fault, but its Darcy's fault that he decided to match it.

Honestly though, Vanek has come right out and said he wants to stay here, and by that I doubt he means he wants to just finish out his contract and not get traded this season. If he WANTS to stay here during the lowest point for this Sabres team, when we're starting a rebuild at this point in his career, what makes you think he wouldn't take a hometown discount?

If any Sabre took a discount to stay here, I'd bet it would be Vanek. He's always been a loyalty guy, and like Homer said, it's not like it's his fault he makes what he does. Give him the C and 6.5 per and call it a career.

We can find a younger better "Tallinder" to pair with him. Just need a stay at home D man who wont leave everyone out hanging.

Sometimes i dont think its about the skill of the players as much as it is the chemistry between the players. We have a bunch of players that can light the lamp, but not necessarily on this team, or on their specific lines. If the chemistry is right between the players, no matter how skilled, they can make a difference.

David Leggio's March save % .946. Since lockout .939. Not sayin but just sayin...those are Tim Thomas-like AHL #'s

Love to see Leggio up here for a few.

- BuffaloHardHat

I have been to about a dozen Amerks games this year, and Leggio definitely has something. Hard to describe, but he definitely carries himself like a pro. he competes the whole game and it seems to rub off on his teammates. They seem to love playing in front of him. Does that make any sense?

It's funnny, but watching Leggio and how his teammates respond, made me realize that Miller does NOT have that effect on his mates. I wouldn't mind Leggio and Enroth splitting time next year.
