Luongo is not better than Reimer, I'd say they're in the same tier. So why would Nonis pay for a more expensive and older guy if he's barely an upgrade at all?
- Nucker101

Reports from TSN is Nonis is inquiring. He obviously thinks he is an upgrade. Contract is an issue. Also why is Luongo a potential Team Canada goalie and Reimer is never mentioned.

If Kipper was such a good mentor wouldn't the flames have a goalie coming up in the ranks ready to play??

If I had a choice between getting kicked in the balls for a year or 8 years, I'd trade for the crappy Finnish goalie too
- Canada Cup

Reeeally shouldn't talk that way on a Calgary blog. We love our Kipper.

Just saying there is no evidence to say he is a good mentor....

I can't believe I'm defending a Canuck/Luongo here, but I would still put Luongo in over Reimer any day of the week.

A good mentor can not help a goalie that does not have good skills. Sure Calgary has goalies. But if they are unwilling to learn, or posses the ability to be a great goalie. Then Kipper will be able to teach them nothing.

He was never a mentor. He was the undisputed starter and a star goalie.

There's no chance Nonis is inquiring. TSN reported Gillis called, in which Nonis had a good chuckle and hung up.

According Nonis, and his speech to reporters. He does not want to move high draft picks, and high prospects. All which Gillis wants. So I would say it is Kipper or bust.

C'mon leafs, stand pat! This is why we have a goalie coach. Ride Scrivens and Reimer, reel us in Jagr for a push!

Not disputing that, but seriously: contracts aside, it's game 1 of the playoffs: Reimer or Luongo, who would you choose? Should be pretty obvious.

Nonis keeps saying expect real hockey trades not rentals. But tsn and all these others don't speculate on anything but rentals

I wonder if this is part of a bigger trade, kipper and boumeester maybe?

If Kipper has another year left on his contract, then why do we want to negotiate an extension. One more year here should be enough given his age

Considering Luongo's playoff problems I may hesitate on this decision.

I'd rather see Mike Smith out of Phoenix...UFA at end of year and it lets Scrivens go down and have a playoff run with the Marlies.

We all would, but Phoenix isn't out yet. They're not moving Smith.

I like Reimer, and his calm attitude....But yeah it would be Luongo for the first 2 games for sure.

Talking to his agent doesn't necessarily have anything to do with negotiating an extension. They have to convince him to just show up.

He had a couple of bad starts last year with a team playing like crap in front of him; Schneider came in and didn't fare much better against the eventual cup champs and an outstanding run by Quick. It also wasn't too long ago he took them to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals... Luongo's the better goalie, Gillis' asking price and his contract are the problem.
