Hes got an extra year on his contract while Iginla is just a 2 month rental. And it sounds like Iginla limited their options to a couple teams so they couldnt maximize his trade value on the market.

With a shrinking cap being a rental helps more than it hurts in this situation.

STL- cant take a +1 year contract guy cause they have 50 rfa's
as an example and im sure there are plenty others in the same boat.

I agree that hes a fringe 2nd liner at best. But I think he'd certainly bolster our depth on the 3rd line. Foligno doesn't hit as much as Ott, but is pretty comparable in almost every other area of the game. Ott makes $133K less and will make more on his next contract.

That is my exact thought...we already have Foligno, Flynn, and Leino who are legit 3rd liners... Big Z is probably gonna be a 3rd liner....

I think what we need is a legit scoring threat on our 2RW if Ott stays at LW...
