Also, my biggest fear is the whole season coming down to the last game against the Rangers, ala Rangers-Flyers in 2010. I wouldn't be able to deal with that stress |

I'm generally in favor of DeBoer's calm attitude, but at a certain point as a coach he has to step up and demand accountability. These last 3 games were all against teams we should beat at a point in the season where we need wins and they haven't pulled through. Send a message, do something! As much as we all joke around it isn't by any means too late for this team, we're in 7th right now, if we can just win on a somewhat consistant basis for the next 3 weeks we'll get in the playoffs, and if last year proved anything it's that once you're in, anything can happen. - MannySilvers
and now we have a pretty hard schedule
boston hasnt played well lately but well they have the devils number and we suck more than the panthers recently
im doubting we make the playoffs at this rate |

We're 1 more loss and a rags and islanders win from being 9th. I agree with whoever that said clarksons gotta still be hampered from an injury a few months ago. Elias can only hit glass and posts and has a knack for counting rafters after every shot towards the net. It's just depressing that were so inept. We need kovy. Losing Parise for nothing kills. Hope Boucher is ready to mogilny next year. |

At the same time for the last few years the Devils have been doing that awkward thing where they seem to play much better against better teams, so in a weird way that might play to our advantage. Outside of us simply playing better, I feel us making the playoffs come down to two things: How consistant the Rangers and Islanders play and how long Kovy is out. |

I feel like losing Parise set us back 2 years while we wait for kids to come into their own. Imagine a mature group of Boucher, Merrill, Larsson, Loktionov, Henrique, gelinas, Matteau. That's half a team right there. Add Zajac, kovy, Greene, fayne, cbgb and maybe an old elias, we have a decent roster. Freaking Parise. |

I really have to hand it to Lou, while everyone for years has been saying that we'd be terrible once Marty retires, Lou has done a fantastic job building a bright future while still keeping the team competitive. The only position as of right now I'm a little concerned about is in goal, but in Lou we trust... |

Hope so. I just feel with goalies it's so unpredictable how they'll pan out. |

Move one of the D men. A-train, Tallinder, or Salvador. Don't care who. Don't care for what. Just do it. |

BOUCHER! Loktionov! Henrique! Matteau! do I even add Josefson or Tedenby to the list?
the potential is there. .. will they be more than 2nd/3rd liners? we'll see... at least its something tho. and we have Kovy for the next 50 years so we're good. |

boucher is a big ? mark, lots of players have scored tons in juniors but cant translate it in to the nhl
lokti looks good but can he be consistent?
matteau will be good but wont put up big numbers
josefson hasnt really shown offense
tedenby needs to find his game and who knows if he will, he has speed and skill but he hasnt shown production and cant find he way to 1st line in albany let alone find a way to stay with the big club
other than that who is there? |

I like Pietila as a solid bottom 6 forward. |

Do you think the Devils would do this trade with the Canucks?
To New Jersey:
Luongo, Raymond, + 1st Round Pick
To Vancouver:
Clarkson & Fayne
Brodeur is retiring and Luongo would do well in New Jersey. Raymond replaces some of Clarkson's offence. New Jersey also gets a 1st Round Pick. Vancouver gets a solid 6th d-man in Fayne to replace Ballard (traded or bought out) and Clarkson who brings some great offence.
Math:
--------
Luongo ($6.7M this year and next; $5.3M cap hit)
Raymond ($2.3M this year; $2.3M cap hit + possible $2M new contract next year) - UFA
Clarkson ($3M this year; $2.7M cap hit + possibly a $4.5M new contract next year) - UFA
Fayne ($1.2M this year, $1.4 next year; $1.3M cap hit)
Vancouver Cap Hit Post-Trade:
$4M this year; $5.8M possible next year
New Jersey Cap Hit Post-Trade:
$7.6M this year; $7.3M possible next year
Does this sound reasonable? - canuck_fan_in_t.o.
YES!
BUT... Schneider is who we want. Keep the pick. |
