Roger,
I think the perfect trading partner would be the oilers
a Hemsky for clarkson(and a signed extention) could be the bases of a deal I would argue (as i am a oilers fan) that we should get a little somthing extra due to the fact that Hemsky has put up good numbers when he was on some really bad teams.
Perhaps even expand the deal to include Ryan Whitney as the devils look like they could use a PP QB. - Oilers rock 99
Every oilers fans proposal includes Hemsky and Whitney. They must be good players. We'll give you our good players, Tallinder and Tedenby. |

Yeah, we could play him with Josefson and Tedenby for the underachieving Swede line. |

Personally I think Clarkson is banged up. I remember a game around the 20 game mark where he got knocked down or into the boards or something and he got up very gingerly. And he appeared shaken up. And whatever the case he has not been the same since. Now I think it says something that Clarkson does not have that extra gear if he does get hurt, but still. He looked so much better balanced on his skates and willing to absorb contact to make a play in the first 20 games than he has in the last 15. |

He was checked in front of the net and his back hit the post pretty badly |

Oilers would add...No we don't want Whitney. |

Do you think the Devils would do this trade with the Canucks?
To New Jersey:
Luongo, Raymond, + 1st Round Pick
To Vancouver:
Clarkson & Fayne
Brodeur is retiring and Luongo would do well in New Jersey. Raymond replaces some of Clarkson's offence. New Jersey also gets a 1st Round Pick. Vancouver gets a solid 6th d-man in Fayne to replace Ballard (traded or bought out) and Clarkson who brings some great offence.
Math:
--------
Luongo ($6.7M this year and next; $5.3M cap hit)
Raymond ($2.3M this year; $2.3M cap hit + possible $2M new contract next year) - UFA
Clarkson ($3M this year; $2.7M cap hit + possibly a $4.5M new contract next year) - UFA
Fayne ($1.2M this year, $1.4 next year; $1.3M cap hit)
Vancouver Cap Hit Post-Trade:
$4M this year; $5.8M possible next year
New Jersey Cap Hit Post-Trade:
$7.6M this year; $7.3M possible next year
Does this sound reasonable? |

I take it you like that deal? I think Gillis would do this deal, but he might switch the 1st rounder for a2nd. Would you still do the deal? |

With all the overpayment going on, Clarkson should definitely be moved. |

We're a joke. The d shows its age, both the old and the young. The offense has way too many of the same players.. Dags, poni, Clarkson.. A trio of mediocrity. And Zubrus won't be 100% for a few months? We're doomed. Elias can't finish to save his life. Bernier and Zajac are our most useful forwards, and who knows when Zajac falls off. Loktionov puts up points every now and then but not a very complete player. Where's Henrique? We're pathetic. Marty and his rebounds and 40 year old 2nd attempt goals against. Dark times in New Jersey. |

We have no scorers, one passer in Elias, 3 energy guys in cbgb, and the rest of the team all does the same thing- skate around, get beat, and no production. |

We're quickly becoming this year's Leafs. Great start, then slowly crumble out of the playoffs.
What this last stretch has proven to me is how important Kovy is to this team not just as its best player but as its leader. Once Marty came back I really felt like we turned a corner and would be solid the rest of the season, then Kovy goes down and we're sinking again.
Kovy and Marty are the leaders of this team. Salvador has shown me nothing this season. I still don't get why he has the C. If they really are just buying time until Henrique can have it they should have just dealt out 3 A's or given it to Marty or something. |

they need to take the C away from sal but they dont have the balls, they will say its a team sport etc, yeah well he is the leader, all he is leading is a sinking ship and how to skate in quicksand 101 |

Lou has tried to go the same way as the bruins, where they are a team of depth, but it doesnt help if all you do is cycle it behind the net with no one in front and pass it to the point where we dont have a dman with a good shot.........works with the bruins who have chara
we are a team full of forwards who are "good" along the boards, but other than that well they cant do poop |

I'm generally in favor of DeBoer's calm attitude, but at a certain point as a coach he has to step up and demand accountability. These last 3 games were all against teams we should beat at a point in the season where we need wins and they haven't pulled through. Send a message, do something! As much as we all joke around it isn't by any means too late for this team, we're in 7th right now, if we can just win on a somewhat consistant basis for the next 3 weeks we'll get in the playoffs, and if last year proved anything it's that once you're in, anything can happen. |
