Yep, I think to a man, we were all glad Prust wasn't signed to that contract. In hindsight it was a regrettable move but that moment in time has passed.

I was not glad that Prust wasn't signed to a contract by the Rangers. Did I want to pay $10 million for him over 4 years no, but I don't think the Rangers would have had to pay that much if they were proactive in terms of getting him signed before July 1st. Maybe I am wrong, but I think they could have gotten him for $2.1-2.2 million a year for three years, and I would have been fine wth that.

I take exception with this one. That was purely a business decision made by upper management. Torts loved Prust and I guarantee you he wanted that guy back. But Slats and co. made an understandable business decision that looks bad now. Regardless, Torts had to live with it and support. But I assure you he would have loved to have Prust back here.

That was some business decision! What about evaluating the players involved as well?
They replaced Prust, Fedetenko, and Mitchell with Halpern and Asham.
They still even had Rupp at that time, who did nothing for us in 2 years, except for the outdoor game victory last season vs. Philly.
Halpern and Rupp are gone now, and Asham has been injured 90% of the year or scratched in games like tonight.

So it was as if you traded Prust, Fedetenko, and Mitchell for Powe. GREAT TRADE! Torts and Sather both had a say in these decisions.

I'm off now to play goal, but will respond again if needed; after I see these last 37 minutes (or more) when I return.

- mrhattrick27

boyle probably. i think torts feels more comfortable with boyle as the third line center over miller.

And implementing a new system isn't rocket science. They can pick it up and do what they need to do. It isn't football with a huge playbook. "Coach where do you want me on the breakout? Where will everyone else be" done. On an interm basis it isn't terrible.

And we want to hang our hat on last year? Terrien got fired after bringing the Pens to the FINALS then guess what? They won!

Oh and that was DIRTY cally

I was glad he wasn't signed to that amount is what I meant. Knowing how many key players that have to be re-signed this year and next year, that contract wouldn't have helped this situation at all.

We all liked Prust, how could you not, but most third line players shouldn't get paid in that range.

I love the way Zucc is playing. He's making things happen all over the place. He's working hard on the boards, on the forecheck and right there goes right to the net and almost pushed the puck past Pavelec.

He just messed up another play.

How about Zucc though? It is gross how Tortorella shuts down the skilled guys for grunts that have frying pan hands.

He's the smallest guy on the team and the only one that goes to the net every time. That is just not right.

Agree. I love seeing him do it but a bunch of other guys need to be doing that too consistently.
