By my count Step was 1 - 4 - 5 in his first 11. Since then he is 11 - 11 - 22 in his last 24. That would be between 37 and 38 goals and about 75 points in a full season at that rate.

Yea. Interesting that the two most boastful disagreeing with Avery's tweet were the best 2 players in the building tonight.

Good point! Nice way to respond to that clown Avery!

Kreider and miller are gonna take lumps and now is not the time to make mistakes therefore I kind of think torts is gonna be less inclined to trust them. Thus the lack of ice time tonight. As bad as Boyle is I think torts trusts him to make the right decision.

A big Problom people arent realizing here is that literally every game, in a shortened season, is seemingly a playoff game. Our opponent every game is as desperate as the rangers should be. My point is goals aren't easy to come by, great plays aren't easy to come by, etc. And defense is gonna be the key to victory. Blowout victories just aren't gonna happen right now. I get the sense, and no offense to anyone intended, but guys like vin, TPC, Pete want every game to be a cakewalk. 2 points tonight outweighs any lack of ice time Kreider, miller or anyone recieved.

Reading some quotes, Do the Rangers make a move or two for servicable pro players just so they can send both Miller and Kreider down?

I completely agree...its a matter of trust thats why I think a move might be made to protect these guys and send them down on the farm to just get ice and continue to develop.

Anyone else think maybe Kreider and Miller were benched because they are about to be traded?

Gotta love the trade deadline

I guess it's possible. They're dressing because I don't there are any better alternatives unfortunately.

They could def try to get like a fedetenko type player in here. Another pk-er would probably be a good idea

I honestly think both these guys will be superstars. Right now lumps are more painful but kids grow from it. Miller seems, to me anyway, to have hit the proverbial rookie wall. He had a few giveaways in mtl and tonight he was pretty bad. Kreider runs around at times from what I notice. But I think torts is doing the right thing. If at the start of the game he sees they have jump he will let them go, but nights like tonight are gonna happen and there ain't no doubt about it

Why are calling me out? Stop bring such Torts suck up. The team was last in the league in goals coming into this game, and you talk like things are just franking peachy keen and nobody had a tight to be concerned.

The only issue I have with Kreider is if they are not going to trust him or play him then send him down they are waiting a year on his entry level contract he could at least do it playing minutes in the ahl

Wtf? I don't wana fight. I wrote no offense to
Anyone for a reason. And lord knows I've been called out a few times. I notice that guys panic a lot quicker then me is all.

Did they have enough desperation and heart tonight?

Everyone is so fixated on torts bashing, it's so friggin redundant at this point.

I don't think I ever said I expect them to cakewalk through the schedule. The problem is their defense is nowhere near as good as last year. And yet the offense has gotten even worse. Basically sums up why they sit where they do in the standings. I think I have a right to be concerned over that.

I'm concerned too. But opponents concentrate on defense too. Goals are hard to get this time of year. How bout St. Louis? Same boat, highly touted this year but struggling and not one person has mentioned Hitchcock should go

I know you don't. Just saying that its not gonna be as easy as we want it to be.

At the end of the day we all want ranger wins. One way or another.

I read this blog everyday and if I didn't know any better I'd say they are in 13th place and 5 games under.500

Well they are only 5 points ahead of 13th, and technically are a game under .500 haha

But yea I agree, just keep the wins coming

That would be a typical pre lockout of 2004, Ranger move. Kreider and Miller would then go on to be very good players while the overaged bum the Rangers would retire due to injury.

Shortened season condenses everything. We are still in decent shape, as long as they play like tonight.

Gained on jersey, Carolina and the peg. Still have a game in hand on isles

I was just looking and: the Isles last 5 are road games. Carolina has 9 game left vs. current playoff teams. Our next 5 are real tough if we can squeeze 6 or 7 pts out of them, a big if tho, we set up well the remainder of the season

It does help play Pitt without Crosby. Need to take advantage

Well, at this point only three of the regulars here (myself, TJ and Blueshirts4ever) support keeping Torts. Most everyone else wants him out at this point.
- gkmkiller

Why is that so? Here are a few of the hundreds of reasons:

1) Kreider's development delayed here.
2) Gaborik playing out of position on LW for the first 30 games until put back on RW.
3) Nash only equal in goals with Stepan as another one posted here who was in shock. (Nash missed 4 games from that Lukic hit; while Stepan has played them all).
4) Nash put on the penalty kill with only 3 minutes left a few games ago with the game result already in hand. (Trade for a top 5 NHL scorer to get injured blocking a shot on the PK.
5) "We stress play away from the puck, and don't teach offense here" system.
If they allowed their goal producers to play for what they are best at doing, we would have at least 8-12 more points at this time.
I posted this stat after the MTL. loss that Jan acknowledged on Easter Sunday:
We have given up 8 empty net goals, &lost 4 O.T./S.O. games. That's why we are short that amount of points by not scoring just 1 goal in each of those 12 losses.
We also have the lowest goals scored average in the NHL (even after this win); but are "about" 4th in the lowest goals against average (2.24 Sunday; & now slightly lower after this win; excluding the 8 empty net goals against us). You also need more offense in your game plan to win. All defense only doesn't put pucks in the net.

Are those enough reasons? I have plenty more, but it would take me until next season to completely list them here; and they don't include Sean Avery's twitter after that loss to MTL. on Saturday.
