The NHL is moving this direction. They'll make shields mandatory in the next couple of seasons. I also think they'll ween out fighting, unfortunately. Making shields mandatory and adding the shield-instigator penalty is just the start. - BuffaJoe
Sorry don´t ever see the NHLPA allowing it....not as long as Don Cherry is alive

I never told you not to post your opinion....I only responded to why the full cage is not used....I am sorry was I being to forceful with you? Did I say you can´t post here?
Same old.... - toddkac
No, but you said "deal with it" and "time to join society and realize..."
Neither of which imply that you want to converse about it, or even listen to my opinion.
You wanted me to "deal with" the fact that I was wrong or that the nhlpa didn't agree with me or whatever. |

I'm saying how is the game better without at least half cages?
What about a quarterback?
Why is the opinion always "nooooo cages will ruin hockey!"
I fail to see how it would have that big of a difference - Putzfrau
Half shields im all for. Full cages no.
Ask any NHL player they would never want full cages. They lose the puck more in their feet cant see it as well. If you ask a bar league player its more macho for them and they wouldnt be able to tell the difference but ask a proffesional and they would be effected immediately.
Scoring is an issue in this league if your best players are uncomfortable and cant get a good feel because of a cage you are probably looking at a 10% drop in scoring |

Cherry has no real pull with the league, and I don't want them to get rid of it, but mark my words, there will be a day where fighting is taken out of hockey, and I don't think it's as far off as many people want to think. In fact, I'll go out on a limb here and say it happens under Buttman. |

why are you being so obtuse. There is no discussion because the NHLPA doesn´t want it. If you want to debate then debate about something debatible... |

Fair enough. What about the next generation when players are used to it?
Or is it just cages are always bad and will always be bad.
I understand how changing something so drastically could have an effect at first, but it seems like it would correct itself after a while.
There is also other things they could do to affect scoring, if they wanted to counteract the cages. |

Throwing out this season who makes the playoffs first, Sabres or Blue Jackets? They both are in tough divisions and only 2 wild card spots out of the rest of the 10 teams elibible for playoffs. |
