I would be open to trading Couturier for Yandle. If it could be straight up or them sending another piece our way, even better.

I'd rather deal Couturier for Gormley + Rundblad

I'm not sure Homer knows about defense very well. I think they amnesty Bryz and sign all fowards. 7 forwards on the attack at all times.
- Deasr1

the poor puck never had a chance...so hunted it was...verily he said to thee:

there once was a man from nantucket, whose stick was so long he would chuck it
he said with a grin, as he griped from the bin,
if my GM's homer, ah f**k it!

I'm all for holding on to Couturier, because I see his ceiling being similar to Joe Sakic. But to me atleast it seems like centers aren't nearly as hard to come by for the flyers as puck moving defensemen that are solid in their own end. To me that gives Yandle good value.

I'm really not comfortable with trading for Clowe at all. I agree that there are more crucial needs. Unless there is more to it.

I think Hartnell is a player that you'll miss, unless there's a replacement for him.

- MJL

No matter what needs the Flyers have be they in goal, on the blueline, whatever, Philly's motto has always been, when all else fails pick up a forward.

Kind of like the running back Leroy Hoard's quote about his abilities: "If you need 3 yards, I'll get you 3 yards. If you need 5 yards, I'll get you 3 yards."

For not knowing about defense Homer's made some pretty bold moves to bolster it over the pass few years. They haven't all worked out, like Weber obviously, but he's tried.

This Clowe thing has been dragging out all day. Any chance it's all a smoke screen?
- flyerscup2011

It doesn't make sense unless more players or big picks are involved.

Maybe we're trying to get the Ducks to give up Bob Ryab by pretending we'll sell the farm for Clowe.

I'm having trouble understanding how, if you really see his ceiling being similar to Joe Sakic, you would trade Couturier for Keith Yandle.

That's his absolute ceiling, more realistically I see him as Keith Primeau-light

I still think best coarse of action is to do nothing or sell, but we all know thats not Ed's style, I also loved how, in his interview at statue unveiling, he said he doesnt tell homer what to do.....We arent stupid Ed we know you do

I agree, we don't need him.

Unless, of course, he is to replace someone else on the roster ... such as Hartnell or Schenn, who would be then traded to get a D man.

I missed it. What was his april fools joke?

edit: also, I think in the Richards trade the Flyers got all they wanted in Simmonds. Schenn they might view as expendable.

Schenn was the centerpiece. They wanted Simmonds along with him, but Schenn was the key guy.

The cap hit is the biggest obstacle for most. Some focus on what Michael Peca said about him being soft...I think if you slot him in here, they're a solid group.
