From my knowledge of the guys he got, not one is a surefire(i.e. regular top 9 forward/top 5 defenseman) NHLer
- Jsaquella

Disgraceful. Late first from the Pens. And the Blues pick is lottery protected. Just an awful job by Feaster.

Getting the return he did for JBo and his fat cap space was a good deal for the Flames. What has he done the last 5 years? I breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't the Flyers JBo got traded to. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.
- phillydentist

I would love to bring in Bouwmeester. He plays 25 minutes a night, never gets hurt, is a good passer has good mobility, size, plays all situations...He's a good NHL defenseman, certainly a top pair guy.

The two knocks are his lack of physicality and the occasional brain fart. But he's a pretty solid defenseman. I would have been happy if the Flyers got him.

It was a brutal deal Feaster made for Bouwmeester. If I was a Flames fan, I'd be livid. The Iginla return wasn't great either.

I'd like to see Wellwood get some more opportunity. He was a pt per gamer when he left Juniors and approached those levels at times with the Phantoms. His first season with any significant NHL time he had 10 pts in 27 games, which projects to a 30 pt full season. Not bad for starters. With his speed and skillset he could be a player at some point.
- exlund

I agree. At the very least he's got blazing speed & is responsible defensively.

Not sure if the offense is sustainable, but a guy with his other attributes should get a look ahead of a guy like Rosehill or Zolnierczyk

All of that is true. The only reason I wasn't crazy about Bowmeester is the Cap hit.

Yeah, the cap hit is an issue. But if you can get him for a lawn chair and a steering wheel from an '84 Buick...

Clowe makes no sense at all unless it is dominoes for something else. Though with JBo off the market, for the life of me I cant see what it would be.

That's why the Salary Cap sucks. If it wasn't for that, I'd love to have Bouwmeester.

Cap hit is always part of the equation... It affects the player's trade value.

I wouldn't give up a 1st and 2 prospects to take on $6.7M in cap.

He does, but my fear is he will be overpaid for.

I see him as a 3rd liner. He also isnt the fastest guy, and doesnt score too many goals. Not really in the same leadership group that I wanted the team to target.

If one of the dominoes is Simmonds I will be extremely pissed off. I love the guy's heart, and despite his shortcomings, I want to see him in O&B for a long time.

That's certainly true this Season. Normally around a 20 goal guy.

What I am getting at is 3rd line guys who can score around 20 are found in free agency pretty often.

I wouldnt mind Clowe depending on the cost, thats my concern.

I'm with you on that. I'm not really enthused with Clowe. Not sure what the interest is. I want the Flyers to use assets to prop up the defense. But if it happens, I'll wait and see what the deal is.

Jay Feaster's not having a good year...

Fleeced by St. Louis in Bouwmeester deal,
Fleeced by Pittsburgh in Iginla deal,
Didn't realize O'Reilly had to go through waivers,
Signed Wideman to a god-awful contract (after giving up assets for his rights),
Drafted Mark Jankowski in the 1st-round, then proceeded to annoint him the "best player" in that draft (lol).
