So, let me get this straight.

Jay Feaster trades Jarome Iginla for 2 mid level prospects and an almost certain to be late 1st rounder.

Then he trades Jay Bouwmeester for 2 mid level prospects and a 1st rounder that is lottery protected(i.e. the Blues miss the playoffs, they keep the pick this year).

How is Holmgren not finishing a deal for Mark Giordano while Feaster still has a job?

Or at the very least trying to pry away picks.

I knew Homer was going to answer Shero's moves.

Well, for the plan to logically work, Rosehill would have to start playing with Giroux. Since they might need Matt Read to play defense...

I get it, it's a minor move at best, and I shed few tears at Harry Z leaving. But I hate carrying a guy with ECHL hockey skill just because he's a good fighter.

Everyone should be calling him. Like the kid down the street that just got the pool.

So what you are saying is that he's just getting around to returning Holmgren's voicemail?

Harry Z isn't very useful, but i think he's more useful than Rosehill. Don't understand the move tbh.

Can't let these kids play two games and decide to pull the plug. Have to let them play and gain experience. If they have to worry about every little mistake then they are not going to be up here long.

BTW, Lilja wont be up with the Flyers ever again. Even if Lauridsen and Gus were playing on one leg.

- stveshdy

Won't be surprised if when Grossmann is ready to play again. That one of them gets sent back down.

It's like going out to buy something you really want and finding everything is 20% off. Feaster is awful. And people complain about Holmgren and call for his head. Count your lucky stars.

I resist posting him in here for the scrutiny, but the guy was right on 80% of the NFL free agency deals.....for purely entertainment purposes Im a fan.....

curious move, for sure. I agree with 98% of Homer's moves, but this one is a bit of a head scratcher.

It's asinine. They gave the Leafs permission to talk to Kirpusof's agents and then started him tonight. It's amazing just how stupid they look to other teams.

I basically agree. Harry Z wasn't going to play much, barring a plane crash or something, and neither will Rosebud.

Correct me if I'm wrong. You know the prospects better then I do. But he traded Iginla and Bouwmeester. And he did not get one single player that he can count on as being a surefire NHL player.

I trust him more than most of the mongers. He's had his share of misses, but he nailed the Versteeg to Philly trade and called Carter to Columbus for Voracek before the trade deadline. Also was the first I saw saying that the Flyers and Leafs discussed JvR for Schenn.

So, grain of salt, but if you follow one anonymous rumor guy, his batting average is better than most

Getting the return he did for JBo and his fat cap space was a good deal for the Flames. What has he done the last 5 years? I breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't the Flyers JBo got traded to. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

From my knowledge of the guys he got, not one is a surefire(i.e. regular top 9 forward/top 5 defenseman) NHLer

I'm happy they didn't trade Wellwood. The kid had a decent year last season when given the chance and this year he is no where to be found.

Still like his speed and potential on the 4th line. He played well on the PK also.

His speed created problems at times for the opponent.

- stveshdy

I'd like to see Wellwood get some more opportunity. He was a pt per gamer when he left Juniors and approached those levels at times with the Phantoms. His first season with any significant NHL time he had 10 pts in 27 games, which projects to a 30 pt full season. Not bad for starters. With his speed and skillset he could be a player at some point.
