Reto Berra a Swiss goalie, never played in N.America,. Mark Cundari, a small, undrafted, 22-YO D-man, 3 years in AHL

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod

If STL misses the playoffs, the Flames will receive St. Louis' 4th RD pick in 2013 and the 1st RD pick will be deferred to the 2014 Draft

They also clear Jbo's cap space. Thats a win in itself.

But Rosehill and Giroux won't be on the same line. So any protection will have to come sometime after an incident which really then just amounts to a staged fight because you know the opposing coach will just throw his goon out if/when Rosehill goes out there. Goon vs. goon. Big whoop.
- Scoob

Here is how the trade becomes relevant. Harry Z was a healthy scratch majority of the time, if Laviolette feels he has to dress Holmgren's shiny new toy, you have a one trick pony, inferior type of player in your lineup.

That and the 1s the prospects again aren't much for the Flames are doing some strange moves.

I agree. The Flyers like to have that kind of player available. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the move. Just trying to explain it.

Flyers could of made out like bandits trading Meszaros and Coburn
- Winning

Mesz probably wont get a very big return given his health.

I cant really argue with trading Coburn though. I think that would be a draft day move though. No playoff team is going to add him right now if he cant play.

And then we'd have to worry about losing games because of it. Just like the Flyers lost all of those games because they had Shelly in the lineup.

He is going to be a UFA. And they really didn't give anything. So if the Flyers want a fighter on the roster if they feel they need it. I'm okay with that. Now if they had given up a significant asset, and Rosehill had future years on his deal. Then I'd have an issue with it.
- MJL

Right. I don't disagree with that. Imho, it's a pointless move. But I'm not the GM.

It was the only way you were going to get anything for Harry Z that would ever see NHL action, be it a goon or whatever. It is what it is.

I really hope the Flyers trade Couturier for Clowe. I want to see how you rationalize it.

Nope the best part was the 1st rounder, mediocre prospect if you can call them that

Averages a 120 at 100 years old. Pretty impressive.

With the number of sub-90 games I've bowled, I don't think I'll ever get there.

You can def get there. Bowling is repetition. Once you do it enough you will get the hang of it.

I'm happy they didn't trade Wellwood. The kid had a decent year last season when given the chance and this year he is no where to be found.

Still like his speed and potential on the 4th line. He played well on the PK also.

His speed created problems at times for the opponent.

Jay Feaster is not clothing himself in glory in the past couple of weeks.

I know Iggy didn't leave Feaster much choice in that deal, but still and all.....returns have been kinda pedestrian.

You just know with the three 1st's Feaster is going to vastly overpay for the 1st overall pick.

For a team in rebuild they got exactly what they wanted. A 1st rounder and more cap space. Also got back two young prospects.

Not bad.

So you're comparing a major trade of two players such as Couturier and Clowe. To a minor rather insignificant deal of two minor league players. With absolutely no future ramifications to it. I enjoy seeing how you take everything and blow it completely out of proportion. Or have such an overwhelming negative and pessimistic viewpoint to absolutely everything.
