These Iginla-Giroux comparisons are just some stupid flavor-of-the-week comments. Giroux is a young captain who is still learning but has already shown how dominating he can be when on the ice. More to the point, he's part of a Flyers' organization that is committed to winning, meaning they will continue to upgrade this team when possible in order to put the best product out there.

And what kids aren't playing properly? Everyone wants to make mountains out of molehills because Coots couldn't replicate his rookie season. It's a sophomore slump and happens much more often than people are willing to give credit for. The kids are alright. If they want to fire Lavy to bring in a new system, that's fine with me. But let's not act as though Lavy is somehow stunting the growth of the younger players.

When you continually part with prospects picks at the deadline for aging vets. You are a consistent ball tickler. If that's winning that's your opinion

They have no farm system and no influx of players coming in to replace older ones....

Lavy messed with Bob or are we forgetting that...he gave more time to that gimp briere than he did to couts....his handling of younger players is attrocious..

the time of adding from free agency has come to a end...

We just brought in like five young players last year, brought in a young defenseman in Luke Schenn this year, and have another youngster in Laughton looking to jump in next season. We've got Tye McGinn still attempting to lock down a roster spot, too. The Phantoms aren't some overflowing reservoir of NHL ready talent, to be certain, but this team has plenty of youth.

(frank)ing phantoms are attrocious....I think one of the keys to winning the cup is having a good farm system....

Ugh...Talbot. Looked so innocent, then he crumpled like he got shot.

Luck of the Flyers.

Still, it was a very fun game to watch last night. Looking forward to Wednesday to see how they compete and if any moves are made between now and then.

Young forwards sure. The D on the other hand could use some talented young blood...

Ok all of them are great....but what about defense? At most all of the flyers prospects are third liners....

Pens don't want to see the Flyers.
Especially if the Flyers get in winning 80% of their remaining games.

Crosby may be back but a broken jaw is a debilitating injury. He won't be 100%.

He'd be a perfect replacement for Briere on wing.
If SJ takes Briere back plus a 2nd rounder I'd be ecstatic.

- Marc D

He's just not the same player anymore. He's not good with the puck, he's not good in his own end, and he doesn't get in front of the net much anymore.

I wouldn't trade any assets for him.

RE: Crosby.

Remember when JR came back from getting his jaw broke?

Pretty sure he had to play with a fishbowl on his head and he lost a bunch of weight.

i mentioned Vern fiddler on the other thread...that would make some sense. don't know if he's available.
- isaiah520

I think he fits on a team that doesn't already have a solid 3C.

With Couturier, Giroux and Schenn on the roster (and Briere still on payroll), I wouldn't trade for him.

I'd do that, actually, as long as Clowe signs a reasonable extension(say close to what Smid just got)

i dont think the pens care about the flyers....yes last year they were in the heads....somehow i think Iggy and Morrow were brought in to settle things down, if things got out of hand....its not going to be the same pens team.

I'm not sure Clowe brings the intangibles that Hartnell does. But it would save cap

I'm not going to deny that, but to rip on the Flyers for failing to have youth is off base. Our youth is in our NHL core. They need to bolster the blueline, both at the NHL level and in the pipeline, but to put us on the same level as the Flames in terms of mediocrity, just for one down half-season, is reactionary.

Right, and too costly for a 4th line role (when you already have a guy in Couturier who draws the tough minutes and face-offs).
