thanks ... someone else said he was UFA, so I wasn't sure.

not that it matters too much, but it makes a bit more sense to get rid of a contract after this year.

Not to continue this whole Z debate(because it's Z, who really cares?) but you kind of inadvertently hit the nail on the head. Who else was on the ice at the time? Why is Jake the one doing something?

Again, Giroux got boarded hard earlier in the week and everyone just stood there. This isn't a knee jerk reaction. Claude aint Richards or Pronger. He gets decked... somebody needs to step in.

And who knows, maybe this move sends a message to this team that they arent getting it done it that regard and they start stepping up to protect their own. If you get that out of Harry Z ...that's a great return.

Nobody is going to think twice about hitting Giroux because Jay Rosehilll is on the roster. Its not 1974 anymore. Its a dumb, backwards thinking move

Not that Harry Z is a great prize, but there's no reason to trade for Jay Rosehill. I guarantee that if Voracek didn't get in that fight last night, they don't make this trade.

Yep

What did Eklund mean by Rosehill BACK to Philly?

Someone posted on TSN that the real reason for this trade was to make sure the phone lines and fax machines are working.. lol

For Holmgren's sake I hope its not working. I dont want to see them adding pieces. This team is far off from contending.

I value Coots and Read as the young players I don't wanna move. The Clowe move I don't understand, unless they are moving Simmonds in a separate deal.

There are more than that I don't want to move. Jake and Simmonds are among them. I can deal with Schenn going..

And now you open up holes you can fill and hurt the ability to draft something to bring in to our already pathetic system.

One working theory from earlier today was the only reason to get a guy like Clowe, whose skill set is redundant when the team already has Simmonds and Hartnell, was if you were going to trade a marketable guy like Simmonds for defensive assets (i.e.--in a deal for JayBo, for example).

Agree on Voracek. At this point in his career, what does Clowe add to a team that a younger, less expensive McGinn doesn't? That is what I find perplexing.
