It's not being overblown. It's just the reason why the Flyers got Rosehill.
- MJL

Unless Rosehill inexplicably lands on the top-line, he's not ever going to be the one standing in for Voracek in response to a hit on G. That's precisely the reason why guys like him and Shelley are irrelevant... they're never on the ice when sh*t happens, and they can't come off the bench or instigate without putting their team down.

I would prefer Voracek to not fight and take a penalty. He almost cost his team the game with 4:00 penalty on a clean check.
- stveshdy

I think we would all prefer that. But given the situation, I'm fine with him protecting his Captain versus doing nothing. Those are really the only 2 options.

And it should have only been 2 minutes in penalties.

Not a smart hockey decision (at that time) imo. We disagree.

not sure if he can play, either ... the only thing I saw was him getting his ass kicked by Lucic, Thornton and McGrattan, so his ability as a fighter might be up for debate as well.

the thing is, Lavy never even wanted to play Sestito who could skate and play a bit ... so it's just hard for me to envision a lumbering Rosehill even being in the lineup at any point this year. Maybe I'll be wrong.

- FlyerGuy

Does not knocking guys out cold constitute getting your ass kicked? Because I just watched 5 or 6 random fights of his and he held his own in every one. Thorton, Gleason, Lucic. We don't have a guy on this team that could stand up to those guys at all. I don't think that's a huge need for a team but I think he is a better fighter than people are giving him credit for.

maybe we watched different fights. I admit I only clicked on the 3 top ones where he was fighting an NHL guy. McGrattan beat the crap out of him ... and Thornton and Lucic beat him as well. I'm sure he's a better fighter than, say, Sestito was.

edit: looking at the Lucic one again it might have been a draw.

I agree. He is a useless player. His stats prove that. I dont want enforcers the game has changed.

Watch a few more. He can toss them. I dont want Simmonds or L Schenn to have to be that guy for us.

Ultimately the cost was Harry Z, and this guy might just play 5 games for us and never be seen in Philly again. At the cost of Harry Z I have no problem with this move at all. Z was probably one more suspension from being written off completely by a lot of the teams in the league.

Not that Harry Z is a great prize, but there's no reason to trade for Jay Rosehill. I guarantee that if Voracek didn't get in that fight last night, they don't make this trade.

Not to continue this whole Z debate(because it's Z, who really cares?) but you kind of inadvertently hit the nail on the head. Who else was on the ice at the time? Why is Jake the one doing something?

Again, Giroux got boarded hard earlier in the week and everyone just stood there. This isn't a knee jerk reaction. Claude aint Richards or Pronger. He gets decked... somebody needs to step in.

And who knows, maybe this move sends a message to this team that they arent getting it done it that regard and they start stepping up to protect their own. If you get that out of Harry Z ...that's a great return.

I've read conflicting versions of this on HB. Was Harry Z a UFA or RFA?

On the Duck's page at Capgeek, it lists him with a cap hit of $600K this year, and an RFA next year.
