It's tame compared to smashing a stick, which I also like seeing. Unless you fall down in the process ala Rask.

This is starting to look like a Flames or Leafs thread.

Being just out of playoff contention is indeed the worst possible place to be.

I'm seriously happy we're not Buffalo or TML fans. If we were, we'd be reasonably certain that Mike Knuble could net us Shea Weber and a few picks.

is that really any worse than screaming about holmgren trading couturier for clowe?

id blame lavy more for bobs mishandling
- Philly1980

Never understood this line of thinking. You would think even if he was mishandled by the coach for a playoff round, the GM would be aware enough to not say "Well, Lavi doesn't know how to use him the past couple of games, let's trade him away."

Give me a break.

Better to loose then make stupid trades for rentals....dont want to see our assets get traded for rentals...
- Philly1980

Better to have established performers than draft picks whose future is very uncertain.

Relax would you? They got rid of your boy jvr, can't have your cake and eat it too.

I felt the same exact way Bryz did at the moment he threw that bottle.

I think it's weird people get uptight about an athlete showing emotion like that.

Don't we want them to care?

Not to create glue or anything, I always felt it was an organizational call.

They had just invested a ton of money and years in Bryzgalov and probably asked the question of which goaltender thought would help them win more games right now. All of that, one way or another, pointed to Bryz.

Whether it was the right call or not really still remains to be seen, IMO.

The same people who are up in arms about Bob now are probably the same people who were crapping themselves when JvR was on his hot streak to start the year. JvR's since come crashing back down to earth, as expected. Bob (and the BJ's) will be re-entering the atmosphere in t-minus 10...9...8...

That's not how it happened. The coach lost his mind and threw in goalies that weren't even on our roster rather than sticking with Bobrovsky hence the Snider declaration and the Bryzgalof signing.

That left them with 8 mil in goal. It made sense to the GM to move him when he wasn't going to start for the next 9 years.

It all started with the coach. He played with the goalies like a two-fisted yoyo champion.

I look at the Bob trade happening because they signed Bryz to be #1, Bob wanted a chance to be #1, and they got back a fair return for him.

The fact that Lavi jerked him around, while being awful, did not cause him to be traded.

Bob showed some great promise with his work attitude and athletic ability.
He was torched a lot on high shots while here.

I am happy for him.

If you want to talk about their lack of patience with him, and whether they could have developed him while getting a less pricey vet goalie rather then signing Bryz for +++ years I could get on board with that.

I'm not freaking out about it but man, I hated the goalie management that playoffs and the subsequent cashiers check for Brygalof. The Bobrovsky trade was just the cherry on top of a knee jerk reaction.

I'm happy for Bobrovsky but disappointed in the team.

I still don't get the blame Lavi for Bob thing. It's obvious the goalies were mismanaged in the playoffs that year. All three were also horrendous. Is it any surprise that a young goalie playing his first year of NA hockey gets overwhelmed - admittedly - during the playoffs? Would the result have turned out any different if Lavi left Bob in there, only to get shelled again?

Bob is just a symptom of a larger issue this org. has with goalies. They always sucked at developing them, and then when they possibly had a nice player, were too impatient or didn't want to take a risk in him turning out bad, so they signed Bryz.

Lavi sucked in managing the goalies that playoffs, but they had an overwhelmed Bob, a Leighton, and a Boosh. The Bob situation was all on the guys upstairs.
