Didn't Richie want Smid moved? Or was that just one of his many non-coherent rants about untouchables and how bad Horcoff is?

agree and wondering who would the Oilers prefer to have next season on the 4th line....Petrell-Smyth-Brown or Jones-Lander-Brown?
- AlEx_OiL

Thats easy. Smyth lander brown. Brown has been great for us you keep his butt in the lineup at all costs. Smyth has been a solid player for us this year though he's lost his offensive touch i'm thinking but thats mostly due to the fact he is playing more shutdown minutes then he has ever played. That and he and brown have worked well together, they had a great forcheck last night that led to smid's goal. Lander i'm not as keen on but we'll see how he does. Frankly i'd like them to make a trade for a better fourthline center but i'm willing to give lander a shot.

gorges is around the same age as smid. he is at $3.9m per. volchenkov is the high end $4.25m per. girardi is $3.325m per. i would say he's somewhere around $3.3-$3.9m i'd be happy at $3.5m per 3yr term.
- deks1

yeah eh.

girardi's a steal. gorges is marginally overpaid. volchenkov was worth every penny of that for about a week.

id be happy with 3.5 for 3 years

Not sure he wanted him moved, just said it could happen depending on signing an extension and for how much. Definitely was one of the biggest anti horcroff people out there. I would ask how it feels to eat crow about horcoff, but clout's has never said no to a meal in his life.

i like the way petrells been playing recently. that 4th line has been great for us.

i suppose trying lander in in the pivot wouldnt hurt. but i have no problem with petrell and brown on the wings on that line going into next year

- hugefemale dog77

I agree but would prefer Smyth to retire after this season and have Jones and Petrell play on and off on that line..

I wouldn't put Girardi in that category. He's more of a top pairing D man. he'll likely get a hefty pay raise in the neighbourhood of 5M

Don't know why you wouldn't keep Smid long term. I wouldn't be mad with 5 years 18-20M. He's a top 4 Dman. Someone'd offer him 4.25-4.5M at free agency. Saying 3.5M is the highest you'd go is a little ignorant. Look at Zbynek Michalek, Volchenkov, gorges, brewer, komisarek. No way Smid gets under 3.5, unlikely over 4-4.25

(frank), I don't think any of em are open past 9 in Lethbridge on a Sunday night. Gonna have to settle for DQ and a couple blizzards for dessert.

DQ burgers give me the poops.... I've been craving Taco Bell, which is odd because I have never been to one before.

we got one of them kfc/taco bell combos on the west side of town, I avoid it cause it means crossing a river and going up a big hill, it's a lot of (frank)ing effort.
Ill be going for the chicken strip basket with buffalo sauce. Plus when I take my dog he gets free ice cream at the window so its win win for both of us.

because i dont neccasarily agree hes a true top 4 dman. its close. somewhere between 4 and 5 imo.

torontos regretting komisarek. volchenkov is overpaid, zybenek michalek is a different type of player for the most part etc etc

i want to keep him and im not slaggin him at all. hes a warrior and does alot of things for us that others dont, but that shouldnt suggest hes worth huge dollars.
our defence is one the thinnest and most mediocre in the league. and having some of our guys playing where they do is part of the reason imo.

hes not part of the problem, but the open market is crazy. and id let him walk if he asked for something exorbitant. hes just not worth it imo. if he was to get 4.5 from someone, id much rather pay another guy 2.5 that is marginally lesser,. that would be 2 million wisely saved

we need some guys to take a little less than what they could get on the open market

and dont call me ignorant. it's my opinion. id dont agree with half the stuff u say, this included, but i dont bother insulting you.

and petry's our only true top 4 guy at present. and our best defenceman without question. not smid

good value for a top 4.
the only issue is that if you try to attract top talent, which has never been easy in EDM, you know have to pay way more than Smid since the new player will be better.

I agree that Petry is the best D man on the team. He's my favourite player on the team. But he hasn't proved as much as Smid has. Only a season and a half under Petry's belt(as a top4). Smid is certainly worth 4M. Just don't think they can lock him up for much less.

"whitney will be moved. Smid will be resigned. They want a top2 young Dman(obviously)"
