Rielly's never played an NHL game either - let's trade him too...
Blacker's the only RD prospect in the organization - don't trade him.
Kulikov is marginally better than Gunnarson. - Big_Lightnin
If the Panthers were dumb enough to take that trade, the Leafs could only be dumber by passing on it. Kulikov is going to be way better than Gunnarsson. Kulikov has more games played, more goals, more assists and more points and he's done all that despite being four years younger than Gunnarsson.
If all it costs them is MacArthur and Blacker, it's an easy decision because that's a steal. |

CBC reports the Calgary #Flames asked the Toronto Maple #Leafs for a 1st-rd pick in exchange for Miikka Kiprusoff
This is interesting, and no its not april fools joke - Mapleleafs_91
It's not going to happen.
Maybe a 2nd, and even then, it's pushing it.
Toronto would pay a small price for Kip given his play this year. And unless there is some sort of package including a depth center, and a top 4 RD, I don't see it happening. And who fills that role for us in Calgary? Are we acquiring JayBo, Kipper and Mikael Backlund?
Actually I wonder what that'd cost. |

Bet you're tempted to push the 'fail' button on that one, eh?
No doubt kulikov is a lot better than people give him credit for. Go figure, it's FLA |

Not even worth considering, though Backlund does have a bit of potential.
Let's face it, if the Leafs had stunk up the bed, or even played mediocre hockey, Nonis would be listening.
Yet, with a convenient gap in the schedule, Nonis will have lots of time to think about what he wants to do. And he really has no reason to accept a deal unless it is a genuine steal.
I wouldn't mind seeing Mac moved for a 2nd, if it can be had, or even Mac along with our 2nd in exchange for a 1st. His contract's up, and he'll want a bit more than the 3m he makes now. would rather have Kuli next year @ 2.5 than Mac at 3.5ish.
As far as Bozak is concerned, if Nonis knows he wants to sign him, then that would mean Grabovski would have to go, something I have no problem with, as Bozak is an adequate 2nd line centre.
If anything happens, it's a salary dump. |

Other than the contract...he would be upgrade. - Fakepartofme
The length of his contract means absolutely nothing to the Leafs. Buy out city baby we can send him packing whenever he starts to falter. I thought buy outs would help the Nucks move Luo, that's how little interest is out there right now. |

If Reimer and Scrivens were losing us games and he didn't have that contract and we didnt have to give the Canucks assets...yea it might have been great. Too many reasons not to bother. - systemtool

How would buyouts help move that contract? No one wants to pay a heavy price to acquire him (especially when it's not an upgrade) play him for 4-5 years and then but him out and have that cap hit for another 10 years.
That aint helping. |

The only way they move him is if they retain part of his salary. Even with that I hope the Leafs stay away. |

The cap hit isn't the issue, so I doubt it. The problem is he's 34 years old and signed for 9 more years and there are penalties if/when he retires early. No one wants to be paying a a goalie in decline over 5mil for 5 years beyond his best before date AND have a penalty if he retires before the end of the contract |

If he was only signed for another 5 years. i would say sure go for it.. Lets not kid ourselves, he is still a pretty damn good goalie. but signed until he is 43 years old? not worth it at all...
