just from single player standpoint is what I meant. Trading a terrible contract for an even worse contract with a higher cap hit when all is said and done. - Big_Lightnin
Lecavalier has a terrible contract but when Luongo is a back-up, he's literally doing nothing. Lecavalier at least has Stanley Cup experience, leadership and is on the ice every game. Lecavalier is also a center, something they need both with Kesler being injured and just a matter of depth even when he's healthy.
better for Lightening for sure. but certainly not Gillis' preference. Think they'd trade Schneider first and reload that way.
The idea of trading Schneider exists for the purpose of not looking like they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Gilles starts saying Schneider is on the block to a few GMs, all of sudden whispers around the league aren't saying how desperate Gilles is to trade Luongo.
Luongo wants out and they want Luongo out. It's just a matter of finding the right place to send him at a reasonable price. If they trade Schneider and go back to Luongo, they're going back to the guy they gave up on a year ago. The first sign of trouble and it all comes crumbling down again. |

no he's reporting what he thinks is happening. - Big_Lightnin
People seem to think that when Lebrun says "Fletcher and Nucks asstGM were talking (I'm assuming it about luongo)"
Means Lebrun said that the Leafs and Nucks are talking about Luongo. |

Sick of Sestito getting his ass kicked?
Rosehill-McLaren on Thursday? - Big_Lightnin
Sestito has been playing for the Canucks for around a month now
Zolnier isn't a great player but it baffles me that anyone would ever want to trade for Rosehill... he punches like a girl. Mclaren would pummel him. |

No he's reporting a meeting between Fletcher and Nucks assistant GM a week ago to get recent talks started as well as further discussion between Gillis and Nonis..
I understand u not believing any this happening ..For me I see no reason for LeBrun to make this up... - Fruitcakenipple

all fair points...
but trading for Lecavalier might get Gillis set on fire in front of Rogers center.

Right, he speculated it was about lou and people think because he said it it's true.
People need to slow down and read what is written. "I think/Believe it's about Luongo" turns into Lebrun said that are talking about Luong, when that's not what he wrote. |

I wouldn't mind a guy like Robidas, he only has one year left on his contract at 3.3 Cap Hit, 2.8Mil actual money. Not going to give up a lot to get him, but something like a 2nd/3rd rounder C level prospect perhaps. |

Not until after they get eliminated from the playoffs.
How many Canucks fans would be enraged by a Lecavalier and Garon for Luongo and Ballard trade? |

Why would they be enraged? They get another top notch centerman and get rid of ballard Thats more power for offense instead of luu sitting on the bench. Id be happy for that trade if i was a nucks fan |

oh I believe when he the Cannucks flew someone to Arizone to meet with Fletcher (where he lives). I also believe when he says Gillis called Nonis to further discussions. Both actions of a GM desparate to trade a player he's having difficulty trading.
but I still think Nonis' end of the conversation was him saying "no thanks" a lot.
Lebrun saying they are discussing trade doesn't in any way mean the Leafs want to make that trade.

This is what he was claiming..
" Last week in Phoenix when the Canucks were in town there, Vancouver assistant GM Laurence Gilman met with his old pal and mentor Cliff Fletcher, senior adviser with the Leafs. Those two guys talk all the time but, on this occasion, Fletcher revisited the Luongo dialogue with Gilman.
That conversation between Gilman and Fletcher sparked Vancouver GM Mike Gillis to follow up and phone Toronto GM Dave Nonis this past week to further explore those talks.
This in itself is a story because Gillis and Nonis, I don’t believe, have ever spoken to each other regarding any trade, as some ill will existed after the former replaced the latter as GM in Vancouver. Usually it’s been other members of each front office communicating on Luongo, not Gillis and Nonis straight on. So that’s perhaps an important shift in this story.
Gillis and Nonis spoke this week and, while there’s no deal that’s imminent and there may never be a deal, it certainly appears there’s groundwork built here for the two teams to keep tabs on this until Wednesday."
