i really doubt nonis makes any deals to be honest. i know carlyle likes his d pairing with a left and right shot so nonis most likely won't be acquiring a left shooting dman. also don't understand the upgrade at center? unless its an upgrade for bozak, i don't see why we would need to upgrade kadri, mcclement and grabo (though he hasn't played the best but he's playing 3rd line now basically)
- matt1337

I think what we need to do, is upgrade from strength to fill a future weakness. When I mentioned a Jake Gardiner for Ryan Strome deal, plus swapping firsts, it helps both teams. Strome will never unseat John Tavares as the number 1 center. The Islanders could use a puck mover and let Mark Streit move on. They just signed Vishnovsky, so this deal fixes issues with both teams. The trading of firsts, probably means about 6 spots in the draft, so it won't be a big difference maker. Gardiner is now a known commodity, where Strome is a former 5th overall draft pick and has potential. We need a future number one center, so this may be the ticket.

Gunnarson they can't trade unless they get a solid experienced top 4D coming back.

- Big_Lightnin

Once Gunnarsson gets his hip fixed, he'll be the reliable solid D we've known for the last few years.

The stick-checking of loose pucks last night by he and the rest of the D was good.

Still can't handle the fact Kostka is on the Leafs PP while Gardiner sits in the press box. No offence to Kostka, he's just not supposed to play ahead of Jake. The number of funbled pucks at the blueline ticks me off

i understand your point but why can't they just keep Strome to be their #2C? Nielsen, Cizikas and Bailey are all more suited for the #3C position, at least Strome could provide offense from the #2C position. Not to mention if they don't make the playoffs and somehow win the lottery, the leafs end up with the 1st overall pick, since now any team who doesn't make the playoffs gets a chance for the #1 pick.

would love jenner but don't see Columbus moving him. he looks like he will be a really good #2C for them for years to come.

Leafs pretty much got a deadline acquisition with Lupul coming back. Unless they get some high end talent (not likely in a short season), it's pointless to ship assets away. Keep the team that's rolling which is really young and let them face playoff hockey. Get some experience and see what you can do at the draft. The leafs can upset a team in the playoffs if they get going like they are rolling right now.

They've got Ryan Johansen at centre. Grabs would give them a decent no. 2 option.

They're really close to making the P.O.s in their first year post-Nash. Man it'd be funny if CBJ made it and NYR didn't

You have to give something to get something. We give them a scoring defenceman, young and can skate. We get a good prospect that could become our number one center. The swapping of draft picks, is due to the development of Gardiner. In other words, he's NHL ready, where we'd have to wait a year or two for Strome.

kostka isn't even that much better defensively, but gardiner is miles better offensively. just doesn't make sense to me for gardiner to sit and kostka gets to play

Mac may well be the guy to go. Esp if we can get something good in the process like a 2nd rounder, and perhaps an opportunity to dump Komi's deal on somebody.

With EDM on the periffery of 8th, perhaps we could get MPS and a 2nd for Komi, Mac and Ashton, or a 3rd

- AngryWhiteMale

I like Mac as a depth guy... if any of our wingers go down in the top six he can fill in.... good insurance...unless someone dangles a late first ...maybe a 2nd...but we use that 2nd or ours to add a dman or Ryan Clowe or Raffi Torres type players

also dont think they would risk swapping 1sts and if they miss the playoffs could miss out on the #1 pick. no to mention they have griffin reinhart who might be ready for next year

I like Mac as a depth guy too, and for a while there with Nazem I was beginning to lean more towards Mac over Kulemin(I've pumped his tires for a long time) but now that Kulemin's found his touch, and is locked in at a cheaper rate through next season, it's worth moving Mac if we can swindle a half decent pick.

I know BB said he could have landed a first for Mac last year, and if that was true then him having an extra year on his deal was a big reason for that, so a 2nd is good enough

Yeah I just don't see NYI doing much of anything.

They still have De Haan in the system, and Visnovsky along with Streit appear to enjoy life there. Reinhart will be a beast too.

I could see Neideritter being moved for a young PMD if they feel the need is there

I threw around Komi, Mac, Ashton and a 3rd a while back in exchange for Nino.

Would be a nice fit.
