87pts in a 114 playoff games hardly a " Proven Playoff Bust"...

San Jose looking to tank sitting in 6th with 14 games to go?

come on man, use your head. He's not available.

and for that matter, he's not a good fit. He can't keep up with Kessel/JVR/Lupul

- Big_Lightnin

They get a 2nd line centre and top pairing D-man with speed which is what they could use.. Not exactly sure that's tanking...

Since it's going to be slow around here for the next few days, I'm just going to toss this out there:

Jonas Gustavsson is 2-2-1 with an .879 sv% and 2.92 GAA.

I guess there's one player we didn't get burned by.

trading their leading point getter and arguably best player heading into playoffs is gearing up then?

But they'd be getting Bozak (number 1C), McKegg and others back... seems too legit to not accept!

Some people just don't do any research

- faceto27

Probably similar to the people who insist Kessel will "disappear" in the playoffs.

They hear a media narrative so much that they don't bother to research it themselves.

why do so called "analysts" insist that Tyler Bozak, who has never cracked 50 pts despite playing with 2 guys who were PPG last year, and 2 who are close to that this year (combined) will be in the line for close to $5M a year???

(frank)ing retarded.

- Big_Lightnin

If I'm his agent I'm saying my client is on one of the top producing lines in the NHL last season and the top producing on the team again this year.

Certainly not Jake Gardiner.

Uh oh. Now I've gone and opened a can of worms.

Kessel point production increased 25% in playoffs

Thornton's for his career has decreased 25%, and he's gone from a huge + player to huge - player.

it's not exactly a fictional argument.

Yup. If only they gave 3rd and 4th assist points then he'd be challenging Gretzky

Oh yeah, there is merit to it.

I just think it's a little overblown by pundits who insist on trying to find a story to tell at all times.

Thornton = gutless, massive choke-artist is a compelling story.

considerable drop-off from his reg season production though

also -26 playoffs... +156 reg season...

And if I'm Nonis I say "I wonder how much more they would have produced if they had a center who was any good?"

Bozak's not my "Gardiner." I don't hate him. I don't even hate him as the 1C. But no way in hell are you going to sit here and tell me he's worth close to $5M a year and not have 4 or 5 of us get banned due to the ensuing ridicule.
