No way we get kipper. The price would be to high for a guy his age... plus his play has dropped off alot the last little bit... I dont think he has much left...

What we need is another 'cujo' signing... a guy just in his prime, what was cujo when we got him? 29 or 30? We need to stay away from aging goalies...

- Hockey_Reverend

I hope you're right...

Im pretty sure Cujo was in his mid 30's

I would suggest staying away for that guy... he obviously has "something", high-fiving him, you might actually become infected.

Crazy idea:

Would you consider trading Kadri now? (re: the buy low, sell high principle?) Imagine what you could get back for Kadri or even Lupul right now....

I'd be pretty upset if Nonis traded for Louon8o and gave up any roster players or a 1st.

Even more upset if he did the same for Kipper.

You don't think the Leafs have a better shot at beating them with Luongo in net as opposed to Reimer??

Seriously?

- faceto27

That's not the point.

The point is beyond this season. What we do in the playoffs this season is rather irrelevant. It's a young and inexperienced team with hardly any playoff experience at all. Anything in the playoffs is a bonus at this point. Lets not go from lottery pickers to cup contending right away. Whats the rush?

While Luongo most likely gives this team a much better shot in the playoff, this season, its the 8 or so seasons after this year that makes him more of a burden than a saviour.

Because He's playing so well, or because today is 5 years ago?
- burn

You get kipper in the playoffs......than I think you'll see him shine.
He's playing for a horrible team in a tough conference.
He still has some play left in him.
Although running the current tandem might not be a bad ideal. Reimer is pretty shaky at times though.....but he has played decent.

If you want to play that game, I'll point out Reimer can improve.

We have too many 3-4 dmen, and we would be really short on center depth going into the playoffs. If they can get a solid #2, thats considerable.

Given Luongos play this season and Reimers play this season, it's hard to make a case that it's an upgrade..let alone 2-3 years from now on a 8-9 term remaining.

Now I am NOT saying Reimer is as good, or better, than Luongo. I am just saying that its not worth it anymore for this team, given Reimer is playing almost as well as Luongo has been. Young team, young goalies, about to make the playoffs... lets continue building properly and treat cap space as valuable as 1st round picks and top prospects.

I suspect that Nonis fully knows that Gillis will have to have a fire sale within the next two-three days in order to not be fired. I suspect he(Nonis) is waiting on being able to essentially steal Luongo and perhaps some others while solving some of the Leafs cap challenges.

Have Leaf fans learned nothing over the past 20 years?... stop trading prospects and picks for older players. People suggesting giving up Colborne, Gardiner, Biggs etc, for J-BO, Luongo, Roy, etc. is just stupid.

I hope the Leafs stand pat and see what happens, then take their pick this year and get another prospect... that is NOT to be traded.

I think the Leafs are looking at Luongo for a 5 year plan. They eat the remaining years, I believe its 1.75 million per year. With the Cap expected to be around 80 million by then its roughly 2%.

How do you add Luongo and buy more on top of that and solve your cap challenges at the same time? Especially with the cap going down...

He must be well off, to be able to spill beer, purchased at the ACC, and not be mad..

Or, maybe, that is why he is so pissed off, he spilled his beer.

I know many would like to see Bozak leave, but I like the dude and think you're right about adding another solid #2 center and resign Bozak...I don't see loads of #1 centers falling off the cherry tree...Keep what you have and try to upgrade where you can...

So just because the cap may be increasing, we start spending ignorantly now?

Come on...eventually it's going to haunt us and bite us in the ass. Avoid the problem now.
