The question is...why aren't you?

Do you think we make some kind of run in the playoffs with Luongo in net?

- Pen15

You know how every year a vet on the team will make up t-shirts with a sappy mantra on them so the guys can wear them in the playoffs?

So for us to de-throne Pitt or Bos in a 7 game playoff series...all we need is Luongo in net?

Seriously?

- Pen15

You don't think the Leafs have a better shot at beating them with Luongo in net as opposed to Reimer??

Seriously?

If my choice is Kipper or Scrivens.

Kipper is my choice.

- faceto27

Because He's playing so well, or because today is 5 years ago?

I this is a good time to point out that their contracts are not identical

Leafs aren't winning the cup this year or next. That puts us into Luongo decline-time.

It's incredibly short-sighted to trade for Luongo.

I've seen it too many times before with the Leafs.

No thank you

Can someone explain to me why this team would be going after a guy like Kipper? In a way that makes sense.

Being in decline is relative to where you start.

If he declines from elite status to very good. Is that still not an upgrade from where we are at?

Well said.

I think given their stats, at least, Reimer and Scrivens have earned the right to continue to prove themselves.

If you want to play that game, I'll point out Reimer can improve.

Given Luongos play this season and Reimers play this season, it's hard to make a case that it's an upgrade..let alone 2-3 years from now on a 8-9 term remaining.

Now I am NOT saying Reimer is as good, or better, than Luongo. I am just saying that its not worth it anymore for this team, given Reimer is playing almost as well as Luongo has been. Young team, young goalies, about to make the playoffs... lets continue building properly and treat cap space as valuable as 1st round picks and top prospects.

Exactly, if we are trying to trade for luongo, we should be moving Gardiner & maybe Kadri for Luongo & 2nd.. This helps both teams..

No.

It's Mrs. Faceto27.

- Atomic Wedgie

Was at the game on Saturday, with the Mrs. she was very happy cheering on the blue and white.

After Kadri's third goal, I went running down the stairs to greet him at the glass, I almost ended up doing a face plant. Was thinking if I did, and someone was videotaping me the clip surely would have gone viral.

No way we get kipper. The price would be to high for a guy his age... plus his play has dropped off alot the last little bit... I dont think he has much left...

What we need is another 'cujo' signing... a guy just in his prime, what was cujo when we got him? 29 or 30? We need to stay away from aging goalies...

exactly.

the only but... and its a big one... is if Luongo can be acquired as part of large package of players that solves some other issues for Nonis.

if for example, Nonis could rid the Leafs of two possible compliance buyout targets and in so doing acquires a single buyout OR acquires a player other than Luongo who makes the deal attractive.

Not worth the contract to go from very unlikely to unlikely
