Omg I just saw it. Why did I wanna see it!

That makes theismann look like a sprain

- Slimtj100

Theismann's broken leg has always been my frame of reference for the worst sports injury I ever saw. At least as far as broken bones go. But Joe was 36 yrs old when LT sacked him & ended his career. This poor kid is what, 19, 20? Takes the cake as far as brutality goes.

The concept of "earned" is an interesting one. Let's say your GM and you believe in your heart of hearts that it isn't going to work, do you not make a change because the coach has earned it?
- Pete V

But I don't believe that. I hate pointing to it but I simply have a difficult time concluding Torts can't get the job done based on this lockout shortened, aberration we've had to accept.
Edit: If However, I was completely certain it just wasn't going to work then I make the change. By earned I meant Torts has earned the benefit of the doubt as far as I am concerned.

I was on the whole opposite of 94-95 where the Devils were up and coming lost the previous Cup then won it in the shortened season, I felt like that was us coming into the lockout, now it appears we may be following the same path as our last Cup but holding on to the youth.
- cranford93

Those Rangers that have been refrenced from 92-93 were MAJOR underachievers that year. The roster basically was only tinckered with in that offseason. Later in that yr the deals for Larmer & later of course Matteau, Noonan & Anderson.

It was the Coaching change that was critical to the Rangers winning the Cup in 94, Keenan was a one hit wonder w us, but oh was he the right coach at the right time that one yr.

And that the fundamental difference that we have. I do believe that he is not the best coach for this club anymore. Is it fair? Probably not. Has he earned a better fate? Maybe. Do I make a change if I think it is better for the club? Yes, I do.

The difference between us, Glen, is my gut is telling me that he's done here. That he won't get this team back. But, believe me, I really, really hope that I am wrong. I am still hoping for his success.

Just pure enjoyment and no stress. And plus, the sporting gods have been good to me this weekend, with the exception of the Rangers, so I can't complain.

Yes Pete & that is the bottom line, I gave Torts the B2B vote of confidence up until A WEEK or so ago but no more, a change is needed, NOW!

I look at last year where the team got off to a good start after a full training camp. I remember how close the guys were and really felt that the chemistry was helped in part because of the trip to Europe and training camp. I really believe not having that, not having a chance to build that type of chemistry hurt this team and they just haven't been able to recover.

Given that, I believe that Torts should get the opportunity to take this roster through a full training camp to see if they can build that same type of chemistry and to get on that same type of roll they did last year. If they can't then I will admit my failings and concur with the idea of his dismissal.

Montreal hired a new coach, and they went from being one of the worst teams in the league to one of the best.

I am just curious, how long does Torts' get with you? You mentioned earlier that he gets a full camp next year. So, if they suck after 30 games next year, you are not going to oppose a coaching change then, right?

- Pete V

They had a ton of injuries last season. J Martin is defense first coach too as is Therrien. Their resurgence to me is more about health as much as anything else.

I think at this point we just all root for the team and hope they can find away to win tomorrow night.

Gents, love the spirited talk. Hate the fac that we have to have it due to the Rangers poor play. Good night, Game of Thrones starts. See everybody tomorrow night for the game.

Would we be saying this in game 34 of 82? If they canned him I'd understand but if they keep him I'd understand. I just think this talk of system is overrated. This team is still in a playoff position. Did Bylsma bounce back from the hot seat? I just don't think firing the coach is the answer. I know it's not a popular sentiment. But it's just a 34 game sample with this group that saw 5 of their top 12 depart last season. I'm not ready to throw him to the curb just yet. We agree to disagree on this I suppose.

That's correct brotha. The fact is we don't have any answers. What we do know is if # 19 and # 10 find their games we will be in the playoffs and them Torts will get credit for keeping the guys together.

How do we know he doesn't try to forge a different identity this season with a full camp?. It was probably easier to just go and try to win the way most of the players knew how to play. I know no camp isn't an excuse, but maybe these guys and this coach depends on it more than most teams.

My biggest thing is, I know they've underachieved mightily but it's only 34 games. Following a season when they were 2 wins away from a finals appearance. This season has been crazy even without a lockout. He has to get rope with so many new players and not a normal camp, im sorry he just does. Injuries were a bad sign of things to come earlier . Personally torts has a 1001 excuses he cold use with me so I'm willing to let this year be a wash regardless of what the end result is. However, if next year comes for him and they are say 2 games under .500 after 35 or so games, I turn into cranny and that's the gods honest truth

I looked up the numbers after reading the blog. The Hawks have given up 10 less goals than NYR, but have scored 38 more.

I thought you guys had some scorers over there? Really surprised by how the Rangers are playing this year. Good luck in the push to the playoffs.

Since Gaborik has pretty much run his course here, I'd look to get the best combo of pick/prospect/depth player for the rest of this year in a package. Maybe Phoenix or St. Louis would give up a 2nd/dman prospect/Torres or MacDonald. In the process you clear some cap space going into next year. Both of those teams have alot of cap room so it wouldn't have to be an even salary swap. If you can't deal Gaborik then Pyatt is probably the next expendable piece someone could use, maybe package him with a prospect/pick for a 4th/5th dman down the stretch.

Oh did they award the Cup to you guys already? I have a good feeling or I will if Chicago and Pittsburgh don't make the Cup, we'll enjoy forgetting a down year when we hoist ours, thanks for trolling

TJ, I sd have said, after the Malachuck/Zednik injuries, Theismann & the kid todays injury were the worst. Losing 3 pints of blood in a matter of seconds trumps a
Bag of bones. Sickening. Malarchuk should have been dead, the amount of blood on the ice is just nauseating.
