At least when a broken leg is healed, you know it's healed.

A soft tissue injury can be a little more tenuous, I would think, with rehab, etc.

Watch this team do something ridiculous like making the playoffs without one of their best defensive forwards and 3 of their top 6 defensemen out with prolonged injuries.

It's not impossible, but it is unlikely. One year I would like to see the GM add to the core of the team at the deadline, instead of chasing his tail replacing injured players.

His cap hit is north of $3 million dollars. Unless there is a cap move to be made (LTIR for Briere or Mez???), I would think this move would involve a roster player.

Yeah at this point both Talbot and Mez probably won't see the rest of the season. Briere will be fine by 4/4 and I hope to have Grossmann back in a week or so... I doubt either one of those guys will be LTIR. And who knows about Coburn, unless anyone has an update on his status?

I saw/heard something on Saturday that Coburn could possibly be back if they make the playoffs. Maybe.

other teams have many more assets to trade unless homer has a seizure and overpays. i think it's BS, but we'll see.

He's definitely part of it. Snider might mandate he fix an issue like a goalie problem but it's up to Holmgren to negotiate the terms of the deal, ie, years and cap hit. And almost all the time, Holmgren outbids himself and overpays in both years and cap hit.

His talent evaluation when it comes to forwards is among the best. But he needlessly throws away 2nd and 3rd rd picks, overpays for UFA's, can't draft dmen and goalies.

I think he'd make a good assistant GM to a more shrewd GM.

Holmgren doesn't have final approval of contracts to players. And all teams overpay for Free Agents. Holmgren has already proven that he make a good GM.
