I think they brought him up thinking he was ready...fans thought he was ready for sure his moron agent thought he was ready...then he played..he's not ready!!!
Practice with the big boys and have him there ready for injury or when someone gets traded....he's not ready though and the last thing the leafs needed was to start losing and head for the 9th or 10th. IMHO - Garnie
Solid points, you're right, it was clear he wasn't ready. But was he producing and playing so well on the Marlies that he warranted a trip to the big leagues (not inferring something here, just have no idea)? |

Reasonable concern. I don't like the way the Leafs are handling Gardiner right now. If you're going to bring him up, let him play and learn from his mistakes, rather than destroying his confidence by bringing him up and demoting him every other weak. Just my opinion though. Otherwise leave him be and let his find his game in a stable environment. - celata29

yea exactly but fraser is really our only defensive dman and him and franson have played great together so you cant separate them. Even when rielly comes into the league he won't have a defensive dman to play with. thats def something the leafs should be looking to do come the offseason.
side note: guy i want from buffalo is foligno, but doubt they will trade him. would love to have that kid. i think he plays carlyle style hockey - matt1337
Great player, probably untouchable, or as close as it gets to it, regardless of whether they are having a fire-sale. |

Hes fine, he had 3 good games before he had those 2 bad ones. Hes jumped into the season mid playoff push. Now stop. |

then what happens with franson? he's played good with fraser i don't think they want to mess that up - matt1337
i hear ya, but hes played well enough to play more minutes. honestly id try him with phaneuf and play liles with gunnar to see how it goes for one game, but it could be too much O not enough D on the top pair. |

yea i know what you mean. franson did play some with phaneuf before on 5 on 5 so we know it can be done. liles and gunnar would also be a decent pairing. then gardiner paired with fraser you won't notice his mistakes as much and he might not be afraid to rub some guys out since fraser will have his back not liles |

I would alternate sitting him with Koztka taking turns sitting out for the rest of the season is what I would do. Otherwise If the Leafs are going to continue to bench Jake, than they may aswell send him back to the Marlies. I just hope Jake & his agent don't get so pissed off that they say they want out of TO. |

Cant send him back, hes here to stay. Carlye is showing him the ropes, people need to stop looking into it. |

Why would you sit Kostka at this point? Since he has returned to the lineup, he has played very well. |

Definitely a real concern. I wouldn't alternate, I think that just screws with a kid. I would pick one and role with them at least for a few games so they can gain some confidence and not fear being sent down or to the press box every mistake they make

now stop what? My opinion?
I like the guy and would keep him..but don't blame RC one bit for sitting him.
He's all offence and a defensive liability...needs to learn to stick check like Karllson in Ottawa...there about the same size I would believe or strength or however you want to word it. |

The developmental League? I'd trade him today. He got the call hoping he'd play well enough that someone would bite, now they have to lessen the damage. |

Yeah sorry man I see the AHL as a joke and a holding place until there's room on the big club. Then you start the NHL development.

so trade him before he gets his NHL development thats a smart idea. last year he got to play in the run and gun style of wilson, this year the systems changed and he was injured during the training camp so he wasn't able to really learn the system. why give up on a kid so early? were you saying the same thing about kadri too? |
