Luu is still a great goalie but do the leafs really need him?
The goalies they have now are clearly getting poop done and you'd have to break up a winning team to get him. Unless its a bunch of ufas and picks.

Most people around here don't want him. I think Lu is better than what we have now by a lot but Reimer will one day be our franchise goalie. Toronto plays a more defensive system than Vancouver, allowing chances with a low probability of scoring, it's why we can afford to get out-shout and still win. With Lu in net we'd be more of a force than people realize provided the price is reasonable.

The fact that Gillis wanted Kadri and a first is almost reason enough to hang up the phone now but fortunately we have the upper hand by a lot, we are the only team who has interest now. Florida isn't in a position to trade for him.
They probably want Bozak+a prospect+pick
But I wouldn't give anything more than Komisarek/Connolly/Ashton+2nd/3rd. He might have been trying to get a return for Lu but it is now clearly a salary dump.

The Leafs should trade away all their picks and prospects for old guys. A quick fix can never go wrong.

In all honesty, Scrivens just isn't that good, and Reimer, I think he'll only ever be a good backup, don't think he's capable of lasting a whole season as a #1 would.

Rask was a first rounder goalie, pogge just sucked ass, and they picked pogge over rask because he was canadian, logic went through the window on that one

Same thing was never thought of Rask, and if it was, that's a horrific misjudgment by the Leafs. Rask was a highly touted prospect, Reimer and Scrivens never were.

Reimer is only 25 and does not look out of place as our starting goaltender and except when he's been injured never really has. He's probably got a few years of solid developing left, maybe he works on his glove hand and shootouts and then we'll have a guy we can go with for potentially a long time.

even if the leafs got kipper, wouldn't he just play back up to reimer? look at his numbers this year. he's been terrible. 3.52 gaa and .873 save % I get kipper has more experience but both of our goalies have better numbers then him.

Leafs are 22nd in the NHL for goals against right now, only scored 8 more goals than they've allowed

Scrivens is much more suitable for a back-up position than Reimer by a long shot.

Reimer could be good if he starts to put the onus on himself rather than Jesus to stop pucks.

i agree with you, the problem is with the canucks, they never gave Luu a chance to play alot. Their tactics are pretty messed up, example:

Schneider plays 5-6 games in a row, Luu plays 1 game, Schneider plays the next 2 games, Luu plays the next 2-3 games, etc

Luu will get more games then reimer, but reimer is still reliable to carry the load as well
