nobody knows really
either way.. if we get past the deadline without taking on luongo then i'm gonna be happy
of course if he comes here i will cheer.. if he becomes a leaf i wont gripe about it.. just hope it was the right move
prefer him not to come.. but if he does.. so be it. |
|
|
|
how does that change the leafs situation?
who the hell cares what happens after? you dont sign the guy and lose his rights for nothing its bad.. cause even then if you want him back you got to use another draft pick on him (if you get the chance)
splitting hairs guys. - Dozzer
He wouldn't have had the control Shultz had..Thats the only dif.. |

Well thats for management to decide....Maybe they dont view Reimer as being the answer going forward... - Fruitcakenipple
Maybe they don't completely fine doesn't make Luongo the answer. I'm not talking about building through the draft. Trades and FA can be smart and sensible long term too. A cap anchor with no way out for short termgratification is not. |

There's no way in hell the Leafs will take on that contract...IMO it's the only reason why he isn't a Leaf already... |

Ok, it's bad.
Just saying, this supposed Rask situation is not a comparable to the Lindros situation.
Because, eventually, Rask would be forced to fold - Unless he was willing to wait 4 years to be traded/signed to the ideal situation. |

once you had contract value.. yeah, i say so
on ice, no, not at all.. but when all factors are considered i would rather have reimer - Dozzer
Yup. Hang tight for now, if nobody trades with the Nucks they have almost no choice but to buy out luo. Then offer him a decent salary for a couple of years and voila! |

Agree completely I want 100% to avoid it. However if it happens I will cheer and hope for the best. He has elite talent I just doubt his ability to continue. If Lu had 2 years remaining then hell yeah come on over. The cap penalties just arnt worth it. |

He's having a off year cause hes in decline. Sure he could rebound but for how long a year or two? I have never see a great goalie meltdown as often as Luongo. He played well against Boston? Getting lit up for 19 goals in 4 games??
Team Canada won in spite of Luongo not because of him. Remember Parises cheesy weak angle goal to tie it up with just minutes to play. Anti-clutch.
Don't listen to what Vancouver fans (used car salesmen) say about Lu when trying to peddle him. He is incredibly skilled and has a good career no one denies this. They want Schneider over Lu because he doesn't have mental breakdowns.
I live in BC during the 2011 Cup run I watched all the games when he's on he's fantastic when he's off it's a disaster. - Blazed
Yes nobody has ever had an off year then came back and played well. When he wins it's inspite of him when they lose it's all on him. You fail to mention his shutouts in the final as well nobody on the team did poop in the finals. Yeah he let in a weak goal do you remember his big saves in the game or the fact he held on to still win in ot. They want Schneider cause like you they just put the blame on him for losses. You don't get to be number 1 on team lists by sucking. |

Leafs should wait till the summer before making a goalie move if they do. More options available and lower cost.....period! |

I'm sorry but it's becoming clear to me you havnt watched him play very often outside of the Olympics.
He has had playoff meltdowns like few other elite goalies every year. Chicago rattled his cage hard.
The whole team collapsed at times yes. No one pins the losses all on Luongo. Schneider is much calmer and less prone to the meltdown than Lu which is why everyone wanted him in the playoffs. |

Yup. I'm intreagued to see who gets bought out. Vinny LeCav, Luongo, Briere etc are all candidates who could provide some cheap veteran help for low cost |

+1 let's see how the young goalies perform in the playoffs. If we get bounced in the first round so be it. Save our assets and cap space for the off season regroup from the learning experience and make your move.
Ya think a guy like Mike Smith wants to go through the ownership nonsense again this year with Phoenix???

The Canucks scored 8 goals in 7 games in the 2011 Stanley Cup finals.
Not only can you not pin losses on Luongo at the most critical time, but in all likelihood that series would have been a sweep had it not been for Luongo. |
